I would give up sex for 5 years for that guitar.

Hah!

To me honest, as a married man with 2 kids giving up sex doesn't seem like such a chore...

Still a beautiful guitar though...  Definitely at the top of my list, one of those.

Just had a look at the Yamaha site, and came across a cracking typo:

http://www.yamaha-europe.com/yamaha_europe/uk/10_musical_instruments/30_guitars_basses_amps/60_electric_guitars/10_electric_guitars/50_sg_guitars/10_SG1000/index.html

And now Yamaha has created a special bland of its unparalleled handcraftsmanship and innovative technology that brings the SG2000 and SG1000 to new heights.

MrBump: if you want to have a Yamaha SG-1000 or SG-2000 reissue, you can special order them from Japan via a guitar shop.

time to poat my SG. its handmade by a luthier called martin kemp apparently. hes moved to thailand since for personal reasons, supposedly hes very eccentric. i'm informed the headstock logo is a celtic K. theres some nice detailing on it. ebony fingerboard, kent armstrong hot90s, rather large frets, neck defines the phrase '60s profile'

:lo:

i don't think gary could make a guitar this good. its an eccentric instrument like its maker, but its quality and nails the SG tone of Townshend and Iommi (as you'd expect)

Good timing for this thread to pop up again. Here's my HSS SG recently back from a fret dress at Matt Ryan's (recommended).
I also have a swamp ash Gibson GOTW SG, which was the 3 single coil version and is converted like this to HSS.
New scratchplates by Bob at Legra (also recommended).
The neck and middle pickups sound fantastic, surprisingly Strat-y, which is what I'd hoped for. And cool in-between sounds too.

Has the cherry one been converted from a standard 4-control layout?

Thanks! Me too!  :D The shape, scale length, and variety of tones on offer all suit me perfectly. These 2, my '64 Epi Olympic and my Jedson slide dog are all I own now!

Yes, the cherry one has had some holes plugged by Matt. He did a great job at the price, without going crazy and refinishing the whole top.

Here's my SG Jr.  So far it's all stock.  Oh, I did add some strap locks to it after I got it just as insurance.  Nothing fancy, just a nice, simple guitar.  All black with horns...

Here is a picture of my 199? SG. It has Steinberger 40:1 straight pull tuners, a Mississippi Queen and Warpig. It can be quite Brutal.
