The Private Stock guitars come from wood which has been Felled in Paul's private lands if I remember right... They are literally his "Private.. Stock".

I think he bought the property for the sole reason of the woods in the garden,
and I've got a feeling he has a hand in the building of them himself...

DONT EVER underestimate PRS 'private stock' ive played 3 of those and they really are considerably better then Gibson CS IMVHO.

I really cant believe your saying that when you actually played one or more!

Sorry, but thats my honest opinion anyway..... Maybe a bit overreacting though...

What I meant is I Personally do not have the cash for a PS to play like I would play it, just bit too steep for me. They ARE the dawgs dangly bits, just more than would spend for a 'player' :)

I'm sure its a darned nice guitar to play but isn't the price tag of £10,000 more to do with novelty more than anything else?

For example lets take a PRS 513. I'm not sure of the top of my head how much it is but wouldn't the difference really come from the PRS novelty?

Just simply NO!

PRS are without a doubt some of the best made, with most care/attention production guitars out there. Some have more of a niche following (say Swamp Ash Special and 513) but NONE are novelty's, thats Hello Kitty you are thinking of.

the 10,000 price tag (which is'nt right imo (although am in Texas right now and not back in UK, although that does sound high even with the NASTY way some stuff is hiked in UK) is more to do with it being ONE off, Handmade, Custom, TOP materials for everything and (have to say it) collectability.

Although they are possibly the most beautiful guitars ever made - Most amazing finishes ever made, and some of the best inlay work ever conceieved.

its all a lot easier when its made by robots you know  (insert 'intensely jealous that i cant quite afford an inlay robot just yet' smiley here)

How do we know the Private Stock ones aren't hand done though? :P

And either way - The designs on their own are medal worthy :P

No...

£10000 = $10000

Maybe not in exchange rate - but its still how the cookie crumbles.

We pay double on everything. (Except BKPs)

  Hello Kitty.

Maybe I'm just ignorant but how could you possibly whack the price up to around £10,000? My first thoughts were possibly the fact of it being limited to 10 or something like that =P or perhaps the rarest elephant trunk for Tuning pegs.

I see it as more as of a piece of art hence why I think people would possibly G.A.S about it. I'm sure its a lovely guitar just not everyones cup of tea.

In Texas is it about $10,000?

They aren't limited to 10... They're all compeltely unique...

And most of them have things like inlays made of Onyx, or 16 carrot gold inlaid in the knobs.

Away from the PRS since we're gonna start pulling hair or something.

I wouldn't mind this:

Not really the way PRS do things...  infact if those dragons where done by hand they would be much more expensive than they are already.   I think even the original dragon in 1992 was done on CNC... CNC has got easier, better and cheaper though whilst doing it by hand is still an expensive, slow skill very few people have.

I dunno though, maybe if you requested to have the guitar sent to grit laskin or larry robinson PRS would oblige
