Jackson Dk2m Dinky Used off eBay
« on: February 06, 2008, 02:33:19 AM »
I just got a DK2M dinky guitar off eBay, I always wanted to play around with a Floyd Rose bridge and it was 400 $ US, so I thought it was a pretty good deal. (It looks bad ass too :))
Anyways, I messed around with it for a while and the strings went out of tune :(, maybe it's because it's a licensed Floyd Rose, I read about it and the one this guitar has a Low Profile Licensed bridge, and I was wondering if the Original Floyd Rose would fit in the guitar?(Considering to get an original or Ping/Schaller made :))
Or would I have to cut more of the wood??
Thanks!!

It might be that the bridge is not level and that means it will not stay in tune if you dive, I need to write up a Floyd tuning guide I have written a guide over on shredaholic.com in the tech section check that out it may help you with the Floyd tuning instabillity...

I have had zero problems with my schaller and gotoh unit's...

The licensed vibrato's can be finicky my LTD one was a bit arkward to tune but once it was tuned  was fine my amverick F1 is a bit finicky aswell but fine when sorted...

www.shreadaholic.com go to the tech section and look for the floyd guide..

I had the same problem with a kramer I bought off ebay.
Later I took off the back cover and found that of the 5 springs that were supposed to be there, there were 4, that made it off balance. As soon as I took 1 out, it was a lot better and only went slightly out of tune when I used it.

I suspect that has to do with the knives being too worn down, as the guitar is made in 85.

So maybe you have a similar problem?

p.s. can anyone confirm my knives theory? :)

I've heard the knives wear out from adjusting action without loosening the string, which might explain why my RR3 goes slightly sharp after I pull up the bar or stays slightly flat if I dive

not that I can even use the bar now because I rusted the inside of the hole it goes in, arrrrr!!!!
