NAD Marshall Vintage Modern 2266

Wooohoooo, this is fun! Allrighty, my first impressions: Just used the standard setting, all at noon except Master and Gain 1. Master is at 9 AM and Gain 1 at 2 PM.

The sound without the additional gain boost is much cleaner than I had expected, very open, percussive, nice! Very useable sounds in all pickup and vol/tone configurations. Well, as usual I didn't stay there very long, so kicked in that additional gain stage.

Bang! That thing rips. So much treble, but through my ported 2x12 with a Greenback and a G1265 it is very acceptable on the ear, while it is mega transparent. At the same time punchy and percussive, but not overly bassy or tight, so that it can be played rather fluid despite the gain not being up too much.

Added the Fulltone OCD to boost the amp. WOOOAAAAHHH, now we're talking. This is the most straight ahead I ever owned, but with no effort I have a great 3 channel amp with the most amazing tones from late 60s til late 80s.

I am a very happy man, again!

Well to be fair, obviously I have the NAD High - so maybe let's talk again in 3 weeks :O)

Here is a first vid, this is not very great, but just a first impression. Expect more soon.

this is far away from being a refined approach, but yes, sounds great straight away.

Yep, I think he does.

The cleaner tone is nice - very JTM45-ish!

To best of my knowledge Slash and Aldrich use quite heavily modified Marshalls but not VM.

Glad ya like it Hunter.

I have an issue with it as gave me a splitting headache (could'nt get that 'icepick' soundwave to cease, too trebly and not warm enough) but played someones who had changed the tubes and tranny and was much better to my ears (but then why buy one to instantly mod it when can buy a modded Marshall anyway? takes all sorts).

They're taking Slash's picture with the amp for ads... whether or not he actually uses one.............
