I got mugged
« Reply #15 on: February 29, 2008, 04:22:33 AM »
In '94 me and a friend just got stoned after a party my band played, went to get some beer at the closeby beer store in cracktown, and as we walked out with our beer and spare change, we see two guys 25 yards off approaching us, then all of a sudden on us, just as I was about to give them a peaceful "hippi vibe "what's up!"   Bam! we were both stabbed in the back from the front before even demanding our money.  I mean all they had to do was demand it  beore stabbing, and I would have handed my 6-pack and $3 change to the $%&#er!
So me and Rob G had a stab wound in the exact same place very close to the spine and organs(kidney, spleen) , mine was a little deeper.. spent the night in th hospital, both of us.    I was very untrusting of Everyone walking down the street in broad  daylight after that for a long time, of even the kindest looking hippy chick.... I even attribute my four year bout of bipolarness to that,    so dude... talk to some pros about this soon.   It really can do something to your head... .                                       And Everyone be careful and aware of your surrondings.  Ironically, Me and my friend Rob G both agree, that sometimes it's not safety in numbers, cuz we were shootin the shite and not payin attention, whereas, when I went that way home by myself late at night, I was super awaranoid....  Sorry for the long post, but it's a story...     By the way,  God was the only way i got over the depression...  P.M me if need be

Sorry to hear about that Steve. I was mugged as a 12 year old by 2 brave 16 or 17 year olds but still felt bad for years.I felt worse when my son got attacked by a gang of chavs on his way home from work. Mrs 38th stopped me from going after them and so we left it to the police(as she suggested) and they failed to catch them even though we were able to give names etc. Very frustrating! I guess the only thing I can say, cold comfort I know, is that it seems to be a hazard of life and you are not alone.

Truely sorry to hear that Steve

What I will say is pretty lame, but don't let it hit your condidence. The event is bad but don't let it cause you to avoid anything you would normaly do.

Both my 13 year old son and myself where attacked last year (different incidents) and it's suprising how much you can end up altering your behavour without realising it.

Personally I tend to carry next to nothing in my wallet (oyster card and the like when I was in London), stuff like money and 'real cards' where scattered through a multitude of pockets, as nobody would have the time to get everything
Goodbye London !

i got randomly beaten by two random pikeys last year i think. One held me and hit me round the face, and the other beat me with a plank of wood with nails sticking out of it.

I've never told anyone (for obvious reasons) but i went back a few nights later and set fire to their boat. take that $%&#ers.

Although I'm not a little guy, I used to have some little knobs that lived near me and used to try and beat me up a lot (I was about 17 at the time).  One day 3 of them set about me, so I kept my head down, got a bit of a kicking and went home.  About 5 minutes later, me, my bro, my old man and my next door neighbour went down there and kicked 7 shades out of the lot of them.  Sometimes it's the only language they understand.  They left me alone after that.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

I got a savage kicking in a (dodgy, cheap) Belfast Takeaway not too long ago (for locals: It's that one, yes, and somehow I managed to get battered in the 15 seconds of the year there isn't at least one Cop in it), and it really wrecked my head for a long time. What made it worse was that we were drinking in the (pretty rough) bar across the road, which I didn't want to go into, as it has something of a rep for random violence. Got through the rough pub, to get decked in a chippy.

I was there with three girls, minding my own business, when eight spidey gits pummelled me, got a phone, wallet etc. all that kit. Feckers even took my fags. Not nice at all, and everyone in the place (it was packed, pub closing time, was predictably rendered blind, because some of those responsible were apparently the spawn of local paramilitaries.

On a cheerier note, some years back, I was on the end of the worst muggers ever. I had left work, and was dandering through a fairly "edgy" bit of town on my way to meet the ads in the pub. I'd had a good lift in the bookies that day. Suddenly, a wee skite of a lad, not one inch over five foot appears.

"Gi's yer wallet, Mister" (ye can't fault belfast hoods. They at least adress you politely)

"Look, son, away home before I slap ye"

"Seersly, gi's yer wallet, now"

"Lad, piss off. If you want it, take it"

"Right, houl on there, Ah'm gonna get me brother. He'll take it aff ye"

Obviously, I waited patiently for his return.

Steve sorry to hear what happened to you and you others too. It's best not to dwell on these things and move on as your mind can get really nasty! I used to have to put up with all kinds of shite when I was dispatch riding in London. I had plenty of fights but it's not good which ever way you look at it but chinning one of these c*nts and seeing them go down is just so nice.

Sorry to hear these stories, Steve and everyone else  :( .   Can't add much, I've never been mugged myself; I've been threatened a few times and got in one or two very minor scuffles, but nothing worse than that (touch wood...).  Which is surprising, in a way, as I'm small and probaby have "Victim" written on my head in big letters.  I have to admit I feel pretty scared most of the time travelling around in London, and I'm very wary - even of people who are a bit loud and pissed up, but probably totally harmless.

Why are there so many people who go around constantly wanting to $%&#up other people's lives?  I just can't understand it.  :?

Really sorry to hear about this, after reading all the posts on the boards I must admit I'm quite shocked such bad things have happened to you all.

I got all my prized guitar equipment stolen a while back which was horrible, went to little chef and when i came out they had done my window and stolen my top of the range ibanez jem, a load of vintage ada gear and lexicon effects unit. For some reason I had a filofax with all my personal history with me(birth certificate etc) and they took that too so for about 2 weeks I had no Identity I was seriousley gutted.
The mad thing was my mum rang my mobile phone which had been taken by the criminal and he answered, she asked where I was and he said I had gone out for a bit!!!
What annoyed me the most though was that the police wouldn't even come out they treated the whole incident like it was nothing, I have no faith in the police to this day useless buggers.

Was months without a guitar and luckily got insurance in the end so managed to replace the gear with similar stuff.

I wish I could find out who that guy was even to this day it makes me angry.

One of my friends deliberately carries two wallets - one with hardly anything in - maybe a fiver , a couple of used travelcards, a couple of old supermarket loyalty cards to look like credit cards and a random photo etc.
The other one has his real stuff in
that way if he gets mugged/asked for your wallet - he hands over the empty one.

That's a really good idea, never thought of that.  It's definitely something that I might do.

I'm of the 6'2" and kinda hard looking variety (short hair, grumpy face), but I'm still mindful of walking around in London after dark, particularly after a few beers.  In fact, I tend to limit how much I drink, mainly because of the potential threats.  I'm a black belt in kung fu, but know enough to stay as far away from potential trouble spots as I can.

But muggings in "safe places" in daylight?  What the hell are you gonna do?

Seems to be loads of scum around.

Me and a friend were walking along in town minding our own business then about 30 chavs walked past my friend and shoulder barged him. So we kept on walking then we looked behind us and they were following us. One of them walked up to my friend and said "Why did you shoulder barge me?" and hit him then his friend said "Why did you shoulder barge my friend?" and hit him again. It was pathetic and everyone just stared!! Obviously I can't bring the pain against 30 people so there wasn't much I could do. Funny how they pick on my small friend and not me (6ft and quite broad). ####!!s.
