Why is it that when Brow, Hunter, _tom_, Machinehead, etc. get many responses, but not the newbies? :?

They do :?:

I just reply to what I'm interested in. And also they may have contribute well to the forum. I know Hunter has with his amps, sound clips and helpful links that he's found from across the web.

And well.. I don't know the answer really. Never noticed. Apart from Hunter, but I just explained that.

I really don't think there is any favouritism -Like Jonny, I will respond to a post if I have something to chime in with. I like to think this forum is very welcoming to new members. Inevitably there is going to be a bit of banter between some of us as we have been around a while and "know" each other but that is not to say that anyone is excluded-at least I hope not.

He made a thread in the pickups section, I think that's what he's talking about.
I read it a few times and I wasn't quite sure what he was asking, so I didn't reply. Maybe that's what others thought too.

At first I wasn't going to respond to this thread because I was thinking, who is this guy?

I posted a reply to your pickup thread, but I think the reason that no one had answered was because you have an unusual set of woods in a custom guitar.  At that point Tim is the person to go to.

The other guys may get more answers because they have more standard equipment and questions.  Look how many people are replying to you here   :P

I will only reply if I think I can contribute, I never reply on metal, 7+ string or what colour should I get (if someone can't make that decision they need much more than my help!).  In your case I didn't reply originally because there is a lot of information needed that you haven't given.  I have asked for the additional info, but actually it is still hard, because until you hear the guitar acoustically, picking a pickup to suit it might end up with a sound you don't like.

There is also the fact that I have been to the pub with a few of the old timers here, and met them at LGS or Music Live, and so you tend to keep in touch through here.

I think I replied to one of your earlier threads about pickup choices, but as Phil K said above your guitar is a very unusual one - it's extremely difficult to make suggestions.

To be honest, when I see threads from new members, or with few responses, I often get an urge to reply - we've all been there, and it's disheartening to be "ignored".  But there's not much point if I've nothing helpful to say (assuming I ever have anything helpful to say... :? ).
BKPs I've Got:  RR, BKP-91, ITs, VHII, CS set, Emeralds
BKPs I Had:  RY+Abraxas, Crawlers, BD+SM

Much the same here.

The post you mean is the pickup choice for your redwood guitar?

I had no idea about those woods and chose not to make an ass of myself by posting on something I knew nothing about really  :D
