Hiya Pitchshifter,
I too am thinking Alinico II Stormy Mondays, not just because I love them as a pickup , but because ( as you mentioned ) - the E.Q. is even across the neck. Please note that I said "even" and not "one dimensional "
The highs of a S.M. are not really "rolled off" , but rather that they are sweeter sounding than other pickups I have heard - and the notes stay soft if you pick soft e.t.c. , the dynamics of your playing being well represented. I use my bridge pickup a lot more often now I have the set of S.Ms in my S.G. I mention this because if you want to manually roll off the highs a bit with the tone control for a slightly nasal or compressed sound - your picking remains clear and very sweet , not muddy.
I am also thinking that the ( default ) Alnico II magnet would be ideal - as the delivery is softer than my Alnico IV Mules - which do literally have a 'kick' behind the note - however tonally appealing that note is after the initial 'kick'. A softly picked note with SMs almost 'blooms' from under the finger, - or in my case heavy celluloid pick / or fingers.
The thing to watch out for in SMs ( to my ears ) - is the bass string response. They are almost 'loose' sounding - and certainly mellow. For me this is absolutely ideal for Jazzy Blues, but a different magnet may be indicated if you want the bass tighter than that (?). However, I can imagine that with ebony fingerboard and the specs you gave, my money would go on the SMs - although I am sure owners of other ( less obvious ) types of BKP will hopefully chip in .
