the guitar shops keep telling me i should be pushing prices much higher but i would rather not have them sitting about in guitar shops
There MUST be a better way of getting such workmanship and design to the attention of those who want to buy such instruments.
Retailers certainly have their place and I
absolutely don't mean this as a total criticism of their place and role in the market.
But for the small builder, they either (a) add a large mark-up, making prices uncompetitive, or (b) serve only a small local market, or (c) divorce the maker from the player, or (d) all of the above and more besides!
There are plenty of small independent builders, most suffering with the same problems ... and there are (I believe) many potential buyers who would like to sample "different" brands that they don't see in their local store.
eBay - with all its faults and problems - isn't the answer, it's just a necessary evil.
So ... what is the answer? This should probably be a separate thread!
