I always thought the Tim Burton ones terrible. But then I'm a geek and like the comics, and I also loathe every film Tim Burton has made aside from Big Fish and Beetlejuice, so I was likely to find them a chore.

I liked the comics too, and I agree that the Burton films are nothing like 'em.  But comics and films are very different things, and they need to tell their stories in different ways - for starters, the heroes have to spend a lot more time out of costume or at least unmasked.  It's hard to connect with an actor on screen if you can't see their face, especially the eyes (notice how Spider-Man is constantly getting his mask ripped off in the films!).

Having said all that, the Burton Batman films are all about atmosphere, so I guess they're a bit Marmite.  And don't expect a lot of action.  It was pre-CGI (pretty much), and I suspect Michael Keaton could barely move in that Batman suit.

Revanche - a thriller of sorts, but really more of a thought-provoking character study.  Excellent!

I've spent the last couple of days going through the 2010 London Film Festival programme to whittle it down from a couple of hundred films to my usual 15 or so that I'll actually see.  Ticket order goes off today!  :)

Oh my. Just watched Titanic 2 on syfy. Possibly the worst film I've ever seen, yes it was even worse than Gamer. Again I wasn't expecting it to be any good but it was really badly edited, some bits just didn't flow nicely at all. The ending/last shot was particularly terrible!

I'm off to see Scott Pilgrim tomorrow, really looking forward to that as I've not heard a bad thing about it yet :D

Saw Shutter Island last night.  Alright film, but even the wife guessed the ending.
Advice worth what you just paid for it.

I'm wanting to go and see that soon - hoping it doesn't stop before I get the time to get to the cinema!
I think I hate being indecisive.

It was ok, not as good as the previous seasons. Not really many laugh out loud funny moments but a few good'uns.

The expendables

expect a bad movie, of epic proportions, leave your brain outside and just enjoy the mindless action, the impossible stunts and gawd-awful one liners and puns.. but damn, it's a fun movie!

Date Night - Comedy with Steve Carell and Tina Fey, I really wanted to love this film (I'm a huge Tina Fey fan) but it doesn't quite work. Carell and Fey are good but there's not much else in the film that is. The director can't make up his mind what kind of film is being made, at times its a slapstick comedy at others its an action movie. Not a total dead loss but could have been much better.

On TV White Collar - Season 1 which is very much like a TV version of Catch Me If You Can as the two main characters are a con-man and the FBI agent who caught him. Quite liked it though some of the episodes where very predictable.

Just watched Rec 2, nowhere near as good as the first one as the story takes a completely different direction! Still a horribly scary atmosphere though but I wanted it to just be another zombie film!

Just got back from Scott Pilgrim, absolutely awesome! Loved the vfx/editing style and it was just pure entertainment. After seeing it I need 3 things:

-bass guitar
-fuzz pedal
-ramona flowers

I agree with your 3 item list too.
