If we're talking Zooey-alikes, I prefer Katy Perry

Oh god, Katy Perry.

Call me a prude, but I thought she was supposed to be a recording artist.  In fact her "career" seems to consist of being photographed as often as humanly possible, displaying her baps in a disparate variety of outfits seemingly borrowed from a much smaller person.

I totally agree Philly. I really, really don't like her. Far too brash for my liking - it doesn't help that she's with Russell Brand as I don't like him either.
I think I hate being indecisive.

Just watching The Wrestler. Despite all of those tattoos Marisa Tomei looks very nice indeed - very, very good for her age.

Last night I watched Black Narcissus.  I'm sure I must have seen it before at some time in my life, but seeing it on Blu-ray.... WOW!  :o   Absolutely incredible lighting and cinematography, and a wonderfully strange atmosphere.  I want to track down all of Powell and Pressburger's films now.

Finally saw John Huston's The Asphalt Jungle over the weekend.  Wow, what a movie.  I can see why people call it the best crime film ever made.  Comfortably as good as anything Scorsese has ever done and for 1950 pretty much peerless I'd think (maybe allowing for Touch of Evil).  If you like films like Treasure of the Sierra Madre (another Huston movie) then I think you'll love this.  The story, the human struggle, the dialogue, the film noir styling and Marilyn Monroe make it one of the best movies I've ever seen.  I'm pretty disgusted with myself that it's taken until now for me to get around to seeing it.

Oh, and Philly,  and I'm glad the Blu-Ray of Black Narcissus is up to snuff.  Jack Cardiff was one of the true greats of cinematography and deserves it.  All of which means I have to watch The African Queen ASAP.  John Huston and Jack Cardiff working on the same movie sounds like dynamite to me.

Two of my all-time favourite films right there!  Treasure of the Sierra Madre is out on Blu-ray this week (in the US).  I like The Asphalt Jungle too.

I watched the UK Black Narcissus Blu-ray on rental, it looks fantastic and has some nice (though brief) extras.  I expect the Criterion will have a lot more extras, I'll be investigating.

Speaking of Jack Cardiff, when are they ever going to release The Vikings on Blu-ray?  Tony Curtis tribute maybe?

Yeah, too right.  I'm keeping my fingers and toes crossed for that too.

^ All the the films mentioned by Andrew and Philly are must sees.

I watched Sex and Drugs and Rock & Roll a few days ago and was disappointed. Serkis puts in a good performance as Ian Dury but the film is too fractured to be greater than the sum of its parts.

I watched a couple of not-very-good remakes:

Night of the Living Dead 3D (just as ludicrous as it sounds) and Long Weekend (alright, but the original is much better).

Anyone seen Buried yet? I fancy giving it a watch as it looks good, but none of my friends want to go and watch "a film about a man in a box" :?

Yeah, I saw it at Frightfest.  It's very good, in fact a lot of people thought it was one of the best films of the whole festival.

Ryan Reynolds does a good job carrying the film all by himself, and they maintain the tension very well despite it just being "a man in a box" (I must admit I thought it was maybe 10 minutes too long, but that's my only complaint - and I think I was in the minority!).

-ish.  :|

More like stubble, to be honest.

Obviously the film would've been that bit better if he had a proper beard.

(I don't mean ScarJo, there's no truth in those rumours... )

just watched predators.   I didint think it was too bad.   It almost works as a sequel to 1 & 2 and largely ignores the whole aliens VS predator series that only existed because someone put a xenomorph skull  at the end of predator 2 and fanboys got excited, made a computer game and then made some bad films

predators feels quite like the first film, but isnt as strong.   Tbh i prefer the 80's effects of the original, the invisibility effect they used worked much better , they didnt really need to make it clearer that you are looking at an invisible predator :?
