Never mind Captain America, wait till we see how the world receives Ant Man!

I'll have to make a point of seeing Thor. Though I do wish they'd included a scene with him, Richard Dawkins and Anne Widdecombe on Nicky Campbell's The Big Questions.

12 Rounds - Felt like watching a dumb action movie so I got this one, starring WWE wrestler John Cena!
And.....it's actually pretty good, in a does-what-it-says-on-the-tin kind of way.  Competently directed (as you'd expect from former big name Renny Harlin), some decent stunts, Cena is surprisingly adequate and it isn't even that dumb (not too many "roll-eyes" moments at all, until the very end).  Cautiously recommended!

I watched TT3D: Closer To The Edge last night.

It was fantastic.

The Last Samurai.. I did not enjoy this at all! Soo slow and a very dull storyline. Would rather have watched Avatar again as it's basically the same thing but a bit faster paced!

The Scouting Book for Boys - Low budget coming-of-age British drama, it's predictable in places but good performances from the two young actors make this a watchable and involving film.

The Expendables - exactly like watching a slightly updated version of some old Michael Dudikoff movie from the '80s.  So ludicrous it's hard to dislike, but so throwaway I've almost forgotten it already, even though it only finished an hour ago.

The King's Speech - I was entirely prepared to dislike this film but it's as well made are reported and I thoroughly enjoyed watching every minute of it.

13 Assassins - Really enjoyed this. Proper samurai revenge movie doing revenge in a way only Japanese cinema seems to manage. Loved it.

Pina 3D - Amazing dancing but the structure of the film let the dance side down with some clumsy editing and annoying interjections of sections of interview into the performance. Still worth seeing for the choreography and performances.

A Single Man - Tom Ford's directorial debut is very stylish (as one would expect from a designer) but has substance too. There's not much in the way of plot but the stunning performance from Colin Firth and the unusual subject (isolation) make this a most interesting film... highly recommended.

Black Swan - Stunning film from Darren Aronofsky, while I don't think it's as good as The Wrestler, this is a must-see movie. Sure, some of it is well over-the-top, kitsch even but there are few film of this quality made.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time - Well, what a load of rubbish. :?  Suffers from the Van Helsing syndrome of "if we can computer-animate it, it must be plausible".  It's not.  The characters are so shockingly one-dimensional that it's impossible to give a shite about anything that happens.  It sort of looks good occasionally, and they took the trouble to shoot on location in Morocco, but even then they bloody CGI-ed all over it.

But are there any fit women in it?

Gemma Arterton.  I think she's pretty much the only woman in it, now I think about it.  Certainly the only one with any lines!

She's very attractive, and I think she's a pretty good actress (or can be).  But this is a deeply un-sexy, un-dramatic, unexciting film.  It's just completely superficial.
