It warms my heart that we can agree on this one, Philly. I seem to remember that the Big Lebowski was mentioned a couple of pages back and that you like that too. One more where we agree :D
Yeah, I like the Coen brothers' films a lot, mostly. They have made a few stinkers though.
Which don't you like?
I like all their earlier films, not saying they're all
equally good but they're all good. They peaked with
Fargo and
The Big Lebowski, at that point I thought they could do no wrong.
The next two were a little weaker, but the first one which really massively disappointed me was
Intolerable Cruelty - it's just a piece of fluff. Then
The Ladykillers, a cr@p remake of an infinitely better film.
No Country For Old Men was brilliant, but then
Burn After Reading felt like treading water and
A Serious Man left me a bit cold (although most people seem to like it).
It might just be coincidence, but I think they're at their weakest when they work with big stars like Clooney, Pitt and Hanks.
