I've become rather picky when it comes to movies. I like Robert Aldrich a LOT!

In fact, so much so that I nowadays have a hard time watching anything made by anybody else. Sure, he's made some cr@p as well, but compared to his better works (Flight of the Phoenix, The Grissom Gang, Emperor of the North (Pole), Twilight's Last Gleaming, The Longest Yard...) everything else just seems childish, pointless, lifeless and lacking of style, apart from the odd film or so. I like some films by John Sturges, as well.

Everything else?  That's an awful lot of films!

Well, apart from those odd few.

It was the SHARK ATTACKING A PLANE that was awesome.

The actual film is supposed to be pretty dire.  But I will be watching it.

Just had a great time watching 'Talladega Nights'. Its so stupid!
I don't know why it wasn't in the Will Ferrell compilation box, it was better than some of the others they thought it would be a good idea to include.

Anyone else see 'I know who killed me' on ITV2 (I think) the other night? It was on quite late.
I thought it was ok (innocent Lindsey Lohan is hotter than the tarty one), but a bit confusing. I read through the Wiki page for it and it became quite clear, but it really should have been portrayed better.

FWIW it has won a few 'worst film' awards

Anyone who has seen Boy A? Supposed to be really good.

I always enjoy That Thing You Do (not because of Tom Hanks!). It's just a feel good movie and the theme song is just soooo genuine 60's that I would believe it to be a real 60's hit if I didn't know better.

Saw Terminator Salvation the other night. Kind of disappointing. Not all bad, but I wish they had pulled out a better story line. Great action and effects though.

And one other old time favourite is Mississippi Burning. Gene Hackman as old school mean CIA agent with a human side and god awfull southern rednecks that you can't sympatize with - sweet!

I also enjoy the work of David Fincher. If you haven't seen The Game, Seven or Fight Club yet put down your guitar at once and get on with it!

yeah, i saw it. I actually wouldn't have watched it if the people writing the descriptions for Sky were even vaguely competent, I hate horror films, but it said it was a thriller. Anyway, i got what was going on, but i did check wiki the next day to make sure i'd got it. It was actually quite good, though as i said, i hate horror films, i'm pretty useless/scared etc.

You're not the only one, mate  :D I'm really bad at horror movies as well. I just hate to get choks and often horror movies have a quite thin story line.

yeah, in addition to being a wuss, the blatant continuity errors/ridiculous suspensions of disbelief required kinda get to me with a lot of horror storylines.

"Let's split up so the psycho can bump us off one by one!"

"Right, we've knocked the baddy/psycho over, instead of nicking his gun/machete/weapon and rendering him useless and thus ending the film an hour too early, let's just run away instead"

"Hmmm, this sounds fishy and possibly extremely dangerous, let's not call the cops and instead investigate ourselves without telling anyone where we are and without bringing any weapons to defend ourselves with"

etc. etc.

You forgot another (relatively new) cliché: "Hmmm, I can't get a signal on my cellphone..."

(Alternative version: she can get a signal - and it rings just when she's hiding under the table in the huge deformed redneck psycho's "workshop")

But I LOVE horror movies! (despite the fact I spent ages on that other thread bemoaning the quality of movie scripts...)

I watched the remake of 'The Last House On the Left' and it started with the cell thing, then followed by Dave's cliches (in order) whilst the whole story was based upon the reverse of your second cliche.
