Going back From active(Emg81) to passive(Warpig)

Hails Guys
i received my bare knuckles and i want to install the Warpig in my Schecter Avenger
BUT, i completely forgot how to go back to passive in an all active electronics guitar
its loaded with a emg 81-85 set.
and it has a toggle switch
its a Schecter Avenger Model.

can you help me by telling how to install the warpig bridge on there? do you need pics?!?!?!

so it has active pickups... but does it have active eq?

i suppose you want warpigs + passive eq?

if the schter has active pups + passive eq... then change the pots for 500k, and the capacitor for a .02uF.

itll only have active pickups, you can use the electronics as they are

just remove the battery clip from the circuit

i believe thats right anyway.

No you cant - it will sound awful as the 25k volume and tone pots will suck the life out of the BKPs. (too low a value  when used with passive pickups acts as a load on the pickup and runs off all the treble leaving a dull sound)

If you have just a volume and tone , then do as gwEm suggested and get 2x 500K pots and the right capacitor and copy the wiring arrangement.
You can keep the switch and also the jack - just remove the black wire that goes to the battery clip

You will also want to put an earth wire from the back of the pot to the bridge unless the already had one left in there(this may be the tricky bit)

i didnt explain it properly
i kept all the original electronics from the schecter, but i had to cut some wire from various parts of the pots and/or jack.. to wire up other parts of otehr guitars
my main doubt was regarding the original EMG jack. cause i remember that its active right?!?!?
besides of that, i cant remember which one(i have another one, total=2 passive jacks laying down ) is the original one from the schecter,, but, since feline said i could use the emg jack, just having to cut the black wire.. i'll check
i have the original pots with the capacitor
what would happens if i wanted to use 2 capacitors??@@?

If I remember correctly, when EMG's are installed, you never have a ground going to the tremolo claw/ bridge. Instructions even tell you to take the ground off if you are installing EMG's from a passive setup.
You will need it for passive pickups, otherwise guitar will buzz like hell.
Basically, you need to do exactly what FELINEGUITARS said - solder a ground wire from the volume pot casing, to the bridge. Body may not have a hole for this ground - if it came with EMG's as standard. Very difficult drilling may be required to make a hole for that wire. I wouldn't attempt that myself on a guitar I care about.

i think he said he took the original wiring out - so the guitar should have the hole for the ground wire even if the ground wire has been yanked out

on tune-o-matic bridges this means removing the bridge bushing from the body to put a new wire in... like jonathan says, its a tricky job if you havnt done it before - risks of damaging bridge posts and chipping the finish... probably worth taking it to a tech


oh, i love the shape of these guitars - reminds me i have a 60's teisco spectrum bass that needs rebuilding

and yes, before anyone says it... the bass is a mess and it was me that made it a mess.  Its the first bass i ever brought when i was 17.. it was a mess when i got it but its worse now!!!
