Grados are pretty much just like having speakers attached to your head - if leakage is at all an issue, they are not for you.
The SR80s are fantastic! I also have some SR325i's, but the SR80s still get more head time, as they're just so much fun! Especially for 'rock' genres of music.
At the moment its a toss up for me between a pair of Grado SR80s or AKG K271s, since the 271s have been discontinued for a new mark II model, I can get them for £80.
The Grados are open back, and are meant to sound amazing, but if they're too leaky I'll get the AKGs, which are closed back.
Anyone have any experience with the AKGs?

One of these? I've got one and I think it's great, Ive never noticed any leak but Ive never played something so loud that it would. I reckon Id damge my ears before it leaked any sound! It's huge though so not really portable. Closed back construction means it still sounds like a headphone, although it's pretty damn good. More of the feel thing than anything else, sounds like you're in a small room sorta thing. Can't really get away from that with a closed can. For general music listening on my ipod though I prefer my Sennheiser PX100, a bargain at £25ish although it's pretty leaky.
I think in the end it comes down to whether what youre looking for is a closed or open one, and the Grado and the AKG are both very good representitive of each kind.
Wow this thread has gone off topic!
