My favorite guitarists come from bands I've loved not necessarily great guitarists.

Billy Duffy (pre and post the disaster of Electric)
Brian Setzer
Jerry Cantrell
Warner Hodges (Jason and the Scorchers)
Rick Richards (Georgia Satellites)

Who do I think is the best?
In the Genre of Rock it's a toss up between Gilbert and Satriani
The best over all:
Some old guy no one has heard of in Spain probably

5? Ouch

Varies from day to day, let alone week to week, but at the moment they are

Paul ryan - origin. Player of the most brutal paganini you've ever heard.
Tommy emanuel - Beautifull melody and remarkable composer.
Aaron Turner -Isis - Remarkable composer in a completely different way
Nuno betencourt - Funky, rocky, shreddy, brilliant musician
James hetfield - layed the foundation of metal rhythm for me, and will probably always be on my top five. (And people say I look like him when I play - too many metallica vids when I was 16, I suppose!).

Jimmy Page
Jimmy Hendrix
Slash

The last two would be between John Butler (acoustic, mainly), John Sykes, EVH, Angus e.t.c.

My faves would have to be

Akira Yamaoka from the Silent hill series.
Andy Mckee
Bill Baily - Hell Yeah!
Omar and Cedric from 'Volta
Corey Unger From Blood Has Been Shed

I wouldnt say i like all those Guitar Masters because i dont enjoy the music they create. The people in my list have made music that i have always listened to or always will, and they kinda show what i like most about guitar!
