SGmypod said it, I just agreed!

Can I (horsehead)  just say EVH is over-rated & anybody that has been in Metallica

Cliff Burton and Rob Trujillo overrated?

They're absolutely incredible bassists.

Speaking of incredible bassists, Stu Hamm slayed at the Joe Satriani concert last night. I've never seen anyone shred on bass like that before.
BKPs (soon): CS, TS.
Ex-BKPs: Abrax, NB, SM, PK, Mule, WP.

In no particular order as well...
1.  Gary Moore
2.  Frank Marino
3.  Jimi Hendrix
4.  Joe Bonamassa
5.  Tom Rogers...jk, sorry there, it'd have to be Jimmy Page

Funny how they mainly did blues rock music.  I'd add Robin Trower, but then he'd be 6

Yeah, sorry, I thought you said "Gary says" to avoid flak for slagging off (or not, as it turned out) Joe Perry!

See how confusing this thread has become?

Me & SG were confusing ourselves never anyone else

Nice one!  I haven't listened to him for many a year, must do something about that.  :)

in order

1) Eric Johnson
2) Joe Satriani
3) Zakk Wylde
4) Richie Sambora (flame away)
5) Steve Vai

In reality Johnson and Satch are way above the other 3

listing just five is tough, so I'll mention players who shaped my style the most...

(1) Angus
(2) Kossoff
(3) Clapton/Bluesbreakers
(4) Iommi
(5) Hendrix

Page is overrated because he steals someone else's entire technique and composition (e.g. White Summer = She Moved Thro The Fair trad. arrangement by Davey Graham, e.g. Blackmountainside, = Blackwaterside trad. arrangement Bert Jansch, similar Janschisms on Going to California  e.g. countless Delta blues licks from old Mississippian's who only have become available in the CD/download era) and credits it to himself.

Still, you gotta love Plaigey - he is a absolutely stunning guitarist when he does his own thing and always puts great new twists into the stuff he nicks.

i.e. - not really overrated at all.

Lets also add
Whole Lotta Love (originally You Need Love by Willie Dixon)
Dazed & confused (written by Jake Holmes) I have a copy of the original Holmes version and it's fecking excellent, it even has the spacey breakdown bit

He also stole the violin bow businesss of Eddie Phillips  :?

Overrated I don't know but I enjoyed his earlier stuff a lot
Goodbye London !
