You might also want to look at Hamfist's Scumback M75 in the seconds out section, though it is more a classic rock tone, it might be an interesting mix with a V-30

Yeh i saw that, but i wasn't really planning on spending £90 on 1 speaker haha.

I got my new cab from matamp today :D

Not tried it in a band situation yet (will do on Tuesday), but i went with 2 v30's, 2 hot 100's in the end. Didn't really like the g12k - 100's

Let us know how it sounds, i know i have a 2x12 but and yours is a 4x12 but it would be nice to know how the 2 speakers blend. :D

What didn't you like about the G12K-100?

ignore the V30s bad reputation for having a mid spike and sounding shrill, it's a great speaker for high gain.
it's just all those boutique snobs that won't give anything be celestion a good rating, but they'll bum those horrendous sounding Eminence speakers all day long.

James

Have you tried any of the Eminence speakers?  I was skeptical until I tried one!!

sceptical meaning you liked them when you tried them, or didn't like them?

(i'm just lurking, i'm vaguely considering a new speaker cab, and eminence are high up on my list of possible peakers)

They just sounded thin to me, just not what i was looking for really, but i liked the hot 100's. Seemed a lot smoother with the high gain stuff

Looks awesome!

The G12K-100 thin? Hmmm, maybe it's not such a good choice then.

Personally, I don't find the G12K-100 thin at all. Rich, complex, dark and grindy, yes. Thin? Not in my hands!

I guess there are a lot of other factors though - like what cab it's in and what you're sticking through it. Plus don't forget to break them in, they take a while!!
