A member of my site's forum, ozzuk, reckons they're awesome for metal and shred - he prefers them over marshalls, and he's a real gear nut (he recommended me Bareknuckles  8) )

i've played a few of them, and in general, they are very nice and I'm quite impressed with the ones i've played (a screamer combo, and a head which was a powerball? i think), but i think their ultra-high gain settings are a bit too brutal and harsh for my taste. there was a website with a lot of audio demos of them, and other "boo-teek" amps, but atm i can;t seem to find it. sorry friend!

http://www.rocksolidamps.com/sounds.php is the site.

I've played the screamer combo and think it's great... there was a thread on them a few weeks ago.

I've played a Screamer combo and it's the best and most versatile amp I've ever played. It has 4 channels (Clean, Crunch, Soft Lead and Heavy Lead) and they all sounded awesome. I was able to get lovely cleans, Vox-ish tones (nothing beats an AC30 though) through to soaring leads and serious chunkage :D. My playing isn't up to much so it sounded way better when one of the shop salesmen let rip. You can get them for £650ish too and IMO that's one hell of a bargain. They're well worth a demo or ten.

-Danny :D

Tim, all of the harmony parts on my album were tracked using an Engl preamp/ Marshall EL34 100/100 power amp combo. It has a great, modded Marshall sound. VERY power metal!!!

nahhh; best amp for metal is blatantly a diezel VH4 (played one at LGS, and i could actually have creamed my shorts there and then)! or a framus cobra; they're pretty gorgeous; lots of yummyness there!

yeah, i know a few people that swear by engl. their "tube classic" series seems to REALLY have the classic rock/crunch/blues kind of vibe, really good.
down from the glens came the marching men...

I wasn't that taken with the Diezel stuff, not my type of thing anyway....aesthetically I thought they were impractical especially for a live situation where simplicity is paramount.................knobs for days is just asking for disaster...............more importantly the tone wasn't there for me but I'm sure they're great for alot of players.I know the guy who designs them, awesome guitar player and really nice guy...........funny enough he likes lower gain amps :D

Well guys, on your recommendation Dave at Oxford Guitar Gallery has come up with a 2nd hand mint Screamer combo for a bargain price. As noone deals with them anywhere near here I'm taking a chance on it but nothing ventured, nothing gained(talking of gain........... :D )!Arrives Tuesday so I'll report back on how much of a gain monster they really are!
