I really want one of those classic vibe's. Shame I already have a white/black tele, but it looks so classy. Looking good though, how should this tv jones sound (when it's wired! i actually read posts...)? Warm or clear and zingy?

Oh no - now you've started me wondering about the buggered Squier tele in the attic. I was halfway through putting it back together when the Baja appeared.

Mine is ready, er, "routed" for a humbucker by "someone" a few years back

Its issues are no nut (easily sorted), and now no scratch-plate - and it's a non-standard size/shape. I tried to make one based on the old one... sigh... so it went back in the attic...

But you're starting to get interesting with TV Jones type talk - and the pics look good. I agree with Wez about the pickup ring though...

I, the high priest of teleworship, have declared that Roo and that Ilyti heretic are excommunicates from the true church of tone and must repent or be cast into the basswood pit of toneless Ibanez shred guitars until they repent.

Amen, so be it...  :D

Actually I can't remember what Roo plays (I remember a comment about not being into the pointy hobbies) and he passed a comment about LP types too

I guess he must be either a SG, Firebird or Rickenbacker then (and if so then I can forgive his unnatural Tele phobia)

Or am I trying to find other methods to "unleash the fury" within Roo :)

If I'm not wrong it's an Ibanez RG with single humbucker in bridge

I wonder what he'll say to that?

So you guys don't like the pickup ring then?  I think they look a bit naff with just two adjustment screws on a scratchplate?

I like the pickup ring. Keep it on there - that's my opinion.
I think I hate being indecisive.

The pickup ring looks "Keef", but I prefer it without, since you're asking!  :)

Get black screws and you won't see them....

i would have gone for the normal mount filtertron and had no adjustment visable - but the screw either side is less invasive on the shape than the big ring. black screws would help

Each to their own I guess!  The other reason I didn't go for the normal mount (other than looks) was so that I could swap the pickup into another guitar easily in the future.  I now have neck and bridge TV Classics which can be fitted anywhere that takes a normal numbucker  ;)

I think the ring looks better anyway.  The normal mount (on a Tele) looks odd to me, plus you have to get the scratchplate modification very factory-fit looking  ;)

I forgot to answer this question last night:

how should this tv jones sound (when it's wired! i actually read posts...)? Warm or clear and zingy?

It should be pretty clear which a touch of warmth.  A great rhythm pickup I would think, then with the four-way switch giving both pickups in series I should have a bigger, fatter sound for solos  :)

I'll find out tonight if that's true.....
