I ran 10k for charity today! (update: circumstantial evidence)
« on: October 12, 2008, 06:55:05 PM »
Truth be told, there was also a fair bit of walking involved, but 3 months ago I wouldn't have been able to run 1k, never mind 10k.

And all for a good cause, Cancer Research UK.  :D

Just under 1 hour 15 minutes.

Rubbish really, but better than I expected and there were lots of people much slower than that.

Well done Philly. That is a perfectly respectable time if you wouldn't have considered running 1k a few months ago!
I think I hate being indecisive.

 All on the treadmill, Jon, all on the treadmill - which made running on bumpy ground with long grass today a bit of a shock to the system, I must admit.  But good job it wasn't on the road, my shins couldn't take it.

Really well done!
I think I'm probably better qualified than most to thank you for your efforts (although as it happens, CRUK don't directly fund my team, although the Institute of Cancer Research (which does fund us) is itself heavily funded by CRUK!).
Especially with the current state of the economy, charitable donations really do make a huge difference to furthering our drug discovery and development efforts.
You definitely have my respect for putting yourself through a 10k run for completely altruistic motives!
