I'm still thinking about a Warmoth. But the fact that I don't have a cheque book here cause I'm at Uni and I dunno how much the delivery will be so I dunno about cash.

I was thinking Telecaster for a nice cheap design and what I want. Then I thought Soloist with a little more custom and obviously more expensive but I just don't know now..

I feel back to square one, lol..

I feel like a Schecter. Or some Ibanez.

Stick to the idea of a Warmoth, and take your time working out what you want. I spent six months or so planning my first Warmoth build, and during that time the shape of the guitar changed 4 times, and the various woods and specs changed more times than I can remember. In the end, it was well worth it. I ended up with this:

I'm now planning a Mick Mars-style superstrat, with parts from Warmoth.

The neck is OK to go (obviously haven't ordered yet) but the body, there's a problem. My credit card is limited to £350 (WHAT!) and the body is about £430 :(

What sort of body are you going for? Many of the finished bodies in the Showcase don't break £300 UK, unless it's something quite fancy.

Code: [Select]
Soloist Carved Top, H-H, 24 fret
Mahogany/Koa ----------------------------------------------- $305.00
Tummy & Forearm Cut ---------------------------------------- $ 30.00
Contoured Heel --------------------------------------------- $ 35.00
Tobacco Burst ---------------------------------------------- $220.00
Drop Top Clear Masked Binding ------------------------------ $ 75.00
1V - 1T - 3W
3/4" Jack Socket
Recessed Original Floyd Rose
I went for Koa cause I didn't want Flame, nor did I want to ring about Quilt Maple. It's comes out as $665.00

I think I can use Western Union for Money Transfer. At least for the body, I can use my credit card for the neck as it's below the limit.

For carved top? That's the price...
Believe me a 1/8" cost US$200...

I've been planning mine for about a year ish, hoping to get started with next months pay check. But i know what you mean about being thorough, its something you definatly want to get right.

BTW, your guitar is Giggity! I think im gonna get one of those angled headstocks (but with a reverse strat headstock) whats your opinion on the angled ones?
Driving in my car, smoking my cigar, the only time i'm happys when i'm playing my guitar!

Yeah, it's a carved Koa top for $750. It better be freakin' good! But I'm asking him about quilt maple now. And if it's still outrageous I'm gonna get a full Mahog/Mahog with a Laminate Top

Plus I think I've changed my mind from a Floyd Rose (it is gonna be a special guitar) and thought about a Schaller 456

Quilt has to be the DL, what is a veneer above the top... I'm not a big fan of it, but... They say that the price of a 5/8" top by now is out of a standard that they can offer...

I'm going out guitar scouting tomorrow (or today even, looking at the time) and if I find anything nice then Warmoth will have to wait. I like Warmoth for the options. But one thing I don't like is the $%&#ing communication. I'm sure other people don't like talking on the phone, as well as me. And it just takes bloody ages.

It feels no different than looking for a guitar in shops.

Guitar shop: "Hmm, I'll scope around for a guitar I like"
Warmoth: "I know what I want, it's just gonna take $%&#ing ages or the same time as scoping due to e-mail"

So yeah, and if I don't find anything then I'll be more than tempted to go for a flat top Soloist off the Showcase.

Showcase is very good because it's fast... but order is ok too, mine took 2 weeks to be shipped, instead of the 4 to 6 weeks they've told me...
The email take some time to be answered (about a day) and I agree this is very annoying... As a very anxious person, I suffer a lot with it...

Damn right! As long as I get my answers, I'm all set to go. But I have to wait a freaking day for one e-mail.

I went to DV247 and walked into a studio filled room rather than guitars, after 2 hours travel. Then I went to Denmark Street- WOW. However only two shops interested me sadly. The one with the Jacksons (but mainly cause they had a H&K Trilogy) and the shop with Ibanez.

I tried out the RG7321, the RG1570, and an ESP LTD 400 series.

The ESP was a LP shape and I don't do LP shapes, just thought it might work. It didn't.
The seven string was interesting the fact that it didn't feel that much of a strain from six strings, I thought I'd be reaching for Hell trying to play the seventh string.
The RG1570 WAS THE BEST THING IS HAVE EVER PLAYED IN MY LIFE. PERIOD.

And also Dan from Warmoth still hasn't replied after two days so I think Warmoth is out unless something good pops up on the Showcase.

If nothing, then the RG1570 is MINE! Or the seven string, still thinking.
