If you had GBP 2000 to spend on a guitar what would you buy?

So yeah, that's my situation... I'm looking for a guitar which is versatile, 2 humbuckers (i don't mind if there is a single coil in the middle), and is suited for anything but metal (Blues, Funk, Jazz Fusion etc.)...

I've been looking at Suhrs but what has really impressed me are the Briggs Avatar guitars! Anyone had any experience with one? Also, any other suggestions? I want something straightforward as well so no Parker Fly or Tom Anderson type guitars...

Well, me personally, if I had £2,000 to spend on a guitar right now I would buy a Gibson ES-339.  And get a new amp with the change.

Probably not the answer you're looking for though, it sounds like you're considering something more boo-teeky.

Well I would do exactly what I did and got for a custom WezV build, and put the change towards my next computer upgrade. :)

Out of your options I would seriously consider a Suhr, my guitar teacher plays them and they always really impress me.

Or I would possibly go for a Gibson Les Paul custom.

Or a Diezel VH4 but thats not even a guitar

I'm pretty sure that someone not a million miles from this thread wouldn't thank you for that...

I'd go custom - a replica of that Yam SG currently breaking my heart on another thread here...

That Mason guitar is lovely, but has a distinctly "Tele" vibe to it - I can't see a Tele these days without wanting to draw Roos attention to it...

I'd be looking at a PRS.  Huuuuuge choice a £2000 - Johnny Hiland, Custom 22, McCarty Korina, Swamp Ash Special etc.

Oh I see, all becomes clear now. Yes it is quite Tele, but personally I love Tele's, and fuzz factories, and NB/MQ's, sorry I'm off again.
In fact if I went the Suhr option I would go for their Tele shape (they say it sounds best)

For pure versatility, what about a PRS 513? It's be top of my list, and I'm damn sure you could pick one up for £2k these days.

The Johnny Hiland model is cool.  But in this tough economic climate(!) I'd be tempted to go for a CE Alder 22 and have some change left over.

Not sure I'd spend 2 large on a new guitar. If I had 2 grand to blow on an axe, it would be a 70s V.
