few different questions

hey guys, i've got a few questions for you. first up... i'm thinking about some type of power supply for my pedals. i was wondering if there are any decent ones under $100 (US). i've only got about 6 or 7 pedals, but it gets real annoying having to take them off my pedal board to unplug them as well as to change batteries all the time. i'm not looking for anything great... i don't play live... but i was something thats not a huge tone sucker.

now i've got a few floyd rose questions. what happens if i take off all of my strings? my fret board is dry as hell, i need a string change, and i just got a custom wound warpig... so i was hoping i could just take off all the string so i could clean the board and change the pickups and everything. i'm not sure if taking off all the strings would throw off all the springs and everything. i've made spring adjustments before to flatten out the unit when changing string gauges, but i don't know if i might be messing something else up by taking the strings off.
and another floyd rose question- whats a good replacement for an LFR? looking to stay as cheap as possible (as far as original floyds go), and i need something in a chrome finish. i'm also not sure if i would need just the bridge unit, or also the locking nut.

For the floyd removing the strings will cause it to pull back to its farthest range of motion possible. If you have a recessed floyd it really help to maintain stability if you place some sort of block under it to reduce this effect (I use a drawing rubber).

To replace it the best LFR is likely a Gotoh, though there might be better.

You would only need to replace the bridge unless you suspected the nut had a defect or was derogatory to the tone due to the composition of the materials or poor casting/milling.

thanks maverick... so i just need to put in something to block it off and stop it from moving- where do i block it off at? underneath?

will, as far as power supplies go, i'm looking for one of those power supply things that has multiple cables that will power up all of my pedals.

Yes, underneath.

You just need something that will keep the spring tension roughly the same so re-stringing takes less time.

It generally takes me about 15mins to restring and roughly tune a floyd.

from what I remember about electronics parallel wiring is better than series (with LEDs anyway)

reading the description of those daisy chains it looks like adding more pedals reduces the current to each pedal (I think)

I think it does, you have to make sure your pedals current rating combined is less than the power supply. I have the johnny shredfreak one powering a boss tuner and 4 home made pedals. Not a bit of noise and i've gigged it reliably.

looks like a good price... i was thinking they'd be more around $160 and up.

and i think i've asked before, but does anyone know if this gotoh will be able to drop right in to a dean ml (dimeslime) or if i'll need to have any routing done? because i will not have the money to have routing done.

That should be perfect for the job providing the measurements stated fit your routing as there are a number of different sizes due to patent or technology issues.

Being a Gotoh it should be awesome as my Maverick has a Gotoh floyd (though it is made to a slightly different design and has the Maverick trem arm along with their logo) and it has never given me trouble in tuning stability whatsoever.

What guitar is it going in may I ask?
