I tend to find Mesa amp aren't that loud for their ratings - the small, sorry, conservative-sized OTs they have must be the cause  :lol:

I know that the Maverick with 4x EL84s was nowhere near as loud as any AC30 I've ever owned.

Forget what I said on the other thread. That looks the ticket right there. If only Boogie believed in KT-88's, I'd sell a bollock for that.

Why are u a KT88 fan?? I've tried KT88s in many amp designs and I've come to the conclusion they stay too clean and sound too hifi for most applications, I guess if you're running an amp that purely relies on pre-amp sound they're going to be a great choice though! but getting them to clip is a nightmare and when they do it's sterile.

You may be right re the conservative-sized OTs but as long as they keep outputting that lovely tone, I'll be happy as a pig in shite.  :)
