Would it be better if we had a separate section for all the NGD/ NAD  and look at all my stuff  categories?

I have certainly been a little less active on here  for a while and feel that that feel of the place has changed a bit when I look in.

I agree on both points...

There is a time and place for NGD/NCD/NPD/NSTID... but it gets to be overkill damages the focus and utility of the forum.

I think its the lack of order.... their was order to the gallery section before... it was look at the posted pics by the BK lot.. and the seconds out, its just a big mess now.  I say bring back some order to this place.

I agree with that.

But coming back to the NGD threads, they tend to be the most active threads of all - so I'm a bit surprised people are complaining about them.  I don't suppose it would do any harm to have them in their own section.

+1

Plus if people post in Seconds Out on old posts, then that knocks it up to the top. If the user just PM'd then it'd be more fair.

You need some evidence to support your case!

twinfan!

just kidding. i buy stuff because i want it... forums don't help though. i'm not buying stuff to show off (most of the time i get a NGD i don't even make a thread), but they do make you aware of cool stuff you may not have noticed without the forum's help...

EDIT: i don't have a problem with NGDs. don't really have a problem with order either, but then i only really go into the two spam forums and the gear forum... i like being able to post in seconds out. like most things, i'm not much in favour of stuff which penalises the vast majority of great members of this forum just because a few people use it badly...

Maybe someone should whack up a poll and we'll get deciding what are the most popular decisions.

Or something.

:o  The cheek of it.

It's a chat forum about guitars, pickups, amps, etc.  Why the surpise about NGD posts?  They're guitars, and we want to chat about them?

If you don' t like the post, or you're not interested, don't read it!  Standard forum practice  :)

I wouldnt say the forum has gone downhill.. or does that mean I'm part of the problem?

I dont really like the ability to post replies in seconds out though, but it would be nice to be able to edit posts in there as you couldnt do that before for some reason.

Agreed. I used to hate the fact you couldn't edit in seconds out, you had to make a completely new thread.

+1 - Would find all the NGD/NAD entries to be more useful if they sometimes included soundclips, else as Feline says it just comes over as "look at all my stuff" -  after all we are supposed to play them, not just look at them.

I did put that topic about posting in Gallery + Seconds out, there aren't really that many people with a problem, so its not really going to change

I'd find it hard to believe that people buy stuff just so that they can swank it up here. I don't mind people telling us about new guitars or gear bought-it is all part of the fun so far as I am concerned. If it is uninteresting then mark as read...but can I just say that I got another Cleartone cable today. The forum is always changing and evolving as new people join and add to the chaos. I just hope the good humour and banter continue and that no-one takes themselves too seriously. There are things that irritate me on occasions ( and I am sure I have the same effect upon others) in which case I move on to something else.

I think there's a lot of sycophancy here. But that'd be my only gripe. I do sometimes feel I'm very much a lone voice of disruption, in that I'm quite happy to say to what I think and often in a fairly blunt fashion, but that's probably only that I notice myself do it more than I would notice someone else, or because I take more notice of replies directed to myself than to others. But hey, I'm in that position on a lot of forums

Some people obivously have plenty disposable income and buy loads of high end gear, and there's certainly a degree of showing off all their stuff, but so what? Obviously the majority like to eye up more gear, so I don;t see how it's a problem.

Until they start kidding on it's 'cause they NEED it, obviously

I have posted on here a lot less recently. 2 reasons: Firstly, I found myself getting too interested gear and my playing has dropped off a lot. Secondly, it makes me want stuff I don't need.

I love seeing the NGD threads if they are the latest model or a custom build. They yield a set of images that give a different angle in comparison to those presented by dealers or magazines
