based on what i've tried, the chambered thing does seem to add a little semi-hollow character, little more sweetness and less tightness which works well for lower gain stuff. but whether that's the chambering or just differences in wood from guitar to guitar, i dunno...
personally, i'd go solid if it were going to be used for "quite a bit of gain". though if you can try a bunch of different guitars to compare them, then that's the best thing to do.
EDIT: i should add, i haven't been able to try an anderson, that's based on the guitars i have tried which have been chambered, suhr and the like, and also some of the newer gibsons. it's possible that anderson chambering is different from those companies' takes on it. :)
