New Armstrong Acoustic Guitar Day:
Nabbed this off eBay last saturday but had to wait until yesterday to pick it up. Is a 7 string flat top acoustic made by luthier Rob Armstrong. Was custom made for a band called 'Nagus' who do like modern folky stuff, then sold onto to some other random guy who plays celtic folk, now it's mine and I've no Idea what I'll use it for yet.
My Girlfriend's dad owns 2 Armstrongs already, a doubleneck 12/6 acoustic from the 70s (which is the nicest sounding guitar I've ever played but completely impractical!) and a mandocello with solid brazilian rosewood back and sides and fretboard that sounds lovely too. So as it's my 21st in May and I'm going back to Australia in september so I was considering getting a guitar made by Rob as a present to myself and memento of my time in England. Spotted this up on eBay and decided to go for it since it was a lot cheaper than a new custom and it's one of a kind.
Is a lovely sounding guitar, really loud, jumbo sized body. All solid, spruce top, indian rosewood back and sides, mahogany neck and ebony fretboard and bridge. The neck is a lot bigger and flatter than I was expecting, has really wide string spacing aswell as the extra string so that'll take some getting used to but I think I'll find some interesting uses for it. Hope so anyway.
