Nailbomb into Ibanez Universe
« on: February 10, 2009, 02:15:00 AM »
I'm trying to wire a nailbomb bridge in with the existing dimarzios in my UV777P and I've tried so many different combinations of colours and stuff with no result. Can anyone help me out?

Doesn't the UV777P use a simpler 5 way switch?
If this helps, I think it's like:

DiMarzio red = BKP red
DiMarzio green = BKP black
DiMarzio black + white = BKP green + white

I think that's like the only combination I didn't try. I'll give it a shot now and let you know how I go.

Ok I have the black and bare wires going to the volume pot/ ground. The red on one switch terminal, the green and white on another. I'm officially out of ideas and am starting to suspect a dead pickup.

Have you tried taping the coil split ones together, to see if the pickup works on its own?

do you have a multimeter to check if the pickup is dead?  if not attach it directly to the output jack to test it.

to do that you would connect the white and green together and tape them out of the way, then connect the red to the tip and black/bare to the sleeve of the jack socket

What is the Bare Knuckle Four conductor colour code?
Black =start of screw coil
White = finish of screw coil
Red = start of slug coil
Green = finish of slug coil

Did you check up the colour code? :P

I don't have a multimeter but the guy I got the Universe and the nailbomb from said he got it tested and it was ok. But he couldn't get it wired up either so I dunno.

I'll try it on the output jack and see how I go, I'll be pissed off if it's dead.

I checked it on there, no idea if that's right or not.

This is so much easier with actives.

Connected directly to the output jack it works fine.

Must be a less than solid connection on the volume pot.

That site you linked to has the green and red the other way around I think (from what I copied and pasted from BKP FAQ's) But Wez seem to say differently, so maybe I have done something wrong

Well so far so good, it seems to be fine.

I'll have a better idea tomorrow when I run into my ENGL.

Thanks everyone!

BKP wiring colour codes are exactly the same as Tom Anderson if you look at sites that offer wiring diagrams for different makes
