As the title states... what guitars are you using with what amps? What your favorite combinations? Discuss......

I've been a Cornford fan for a few years now and I don't see me changing anytime soon.

As I think a lot of people know by now, a friend of mine called Martin is a small custom amp builder based in Derbyshire - see my sig for a link to his site.  I have several amps that he's built for me:

A few clones:
* Marshall JTM45 + matching 2x12 with Celestion Golds
* Marshall JTM45/100 with master volume + matching 4x12 with Celestion G12H Heritages and V30s
* Fender Deluxe with power scaling and a Celestion Blue
* Deluxe '+' (with 6L6s) 'Relic' with a re-coned 55Hz Celestion G12H

Plus I have the original prototype of one of his own models, which I also helped to spec up with him:
* Martamp Orion (two channel clean/dirty/dirty+extra gain stage) Marshall-style head with KT-66s

My favourite guitar/amp combinations are:

* Deluxe + Fender Custom Shop Tele = Bluesy rock perfection.  Rev Willie G would be proud!

* JTM45/100 half stack + pimped Epiphone SG = My Angus rig, for YC/DC.  Hells Bells!

* Martamp Orion + 2x12 with Celestion Golds + PRS Modern Eagle = 'My' rig, for 'my' tone.  From clean to hard rock!

Mine is a clone of a Plexi made by Pedrone (brazilian amp builder), model 1959 if I'm not wrong (MV) but with 30w... 2x12 cab with Eminence Private Jack (If I'm not wrong)

Line 6 Pod XT Live.

I've had great amps (Engl Powerball, Laney's, Marshall's) but to be honest, I've never been as satisfied as I am now with the XT. I can finally get the tone I've been looking for, don't know how well it's going to work for me in a band rehearsal or gig, but hopefully I'll find out soon.

5150-II. Looking towards a Diezel VH4 or Herbert in around 2 years or so, but for now, I'm very happy with the amp :) Oh, and I swapped out the speakers in my 5150 slant cab for 2 x Celestion G12K-100 and 2 x EVM 12L black label and I couldn't be happier with those! (in combination with my 2 x 15" Celestion bass speakers + 2 x 8" wharfedale bass speaker cab)

Currently 2 rigs:
The simple rig being a JCM900 50w with a modified ProCo RAT switched in there some time. It's the rig i go to when i want to play some stoner/doom
The fancier rig is an ADA MP1 and an Alesis Quadraverb. Can do everything from Pink Floyd to Slayer.

Got another amp that'll be on it's way soon, but i'll report that when the time comes :)

I don't have any ace guitars, but two very nice ones !   A Gordon Smith Graduate and a MIM Fender Nashville tele.

Number one amp is my home built special, I call it the TC-1 (triple channel, version 1 - very original !), rebuilt from a 1970's Selmer 100W PA.

Power amp in it is standard Marshall 2203, 4 x EL34's.

- Channel one pre-amp is from a JMP50, low gain, surprisingly chimey.

- Channel two is straight up Marshall 2203

- Channel three was originally based on a Dual Rec high gain, but is now very heavily modded to sound much more Marshally.
It's now basically, a relatively vintage (as in 1980's) sounding 4 gain stage heavy crunch/lead channel.

Channels 2 and 3 excel with the 2 x humbucker Gordon Smith. Channel One excels with the tele. With those two guitars and my 3 channels I can cover a lot of bases (escpecially if you add a couple of pedals into the mix).

Oh, honourable mention goes to my Ultimate Attenuator - without which I could not use a 4 x EL34 amp !

Egnater Mod 50 with Erect (Dual rec) and SL2 (Hot rodded JCM 800) modules.

I'm having a VHT style module built soon too, (by Salvation Mods in the Czech Rep) with many different toggles and options that come on the different VHT amps :)

And a Matamp 4x12 with 2 V30's and 2 G12K-100's in an X pattern
SG-X/Over wound Rebel Yell
Blue SG 61 Reissue/Cold Sweat
Egnater Mod 50
Matamp 4x12

Three amps for me:

Pignose tranny thing (the same one from Crossroads, I think...)
1971 Orange GRO 100
RAT modded Blackheart Little Giant, which I think I'll sell soon.

The Orange is just awesome.  Limited, but awesome.

I don't have the luxury of choice-I just have one amp ( Laney VC30). I think it is pretty good for the money I paid but I would love to have my friend's old Plexi or another friends original Bassman. The guy with the former also has an old Champ and it is a fantastic little amp.If I had the cash to get a new amp well I think I'd trawl the various topics on the forum to get some ideas. I like the idea of a Martamp judging by Twinfan's descriptions. I think my Strat would sound great( notwithstanding my playing).

I'm running a Diezel VH4 into a rear-loaded Diezel 4x12 with V30s, and an Elmwood M60 Modena into an Orange PPC412, also with V30s.
I'm considering trying some different speakers in the Orange, as despite it being a dark sounding cab, it has quite a piercing "shattering glass" attack when you're not standing directly in front of the speakers.

1 amp, 1 guitar, but multiple "rigs" now. :D

My guitar, is a bc rich mockingbird special in white, with a bareknuckle warpig in the bridge.

For Rock, hardrock and metal, i run a maxon od808 into my marshall 6100lm, and tame the fizz and boost low mids with an mxr 10 band in the loop. Gets it sounding super thick. I do this on both the crunch and lead channels.

If i want to play more classic Cream sort of stuff, i just go straight in, or sometimes boosted into my crunch channel.

For doom, i run straight into the clean channel with either my Bluebeard fuzz, or my boss fz-2. On occasion i will use the fz-2 as a boost on a low gain crunch channel to get a more raunchy tone, or boost my bluebeard with my maxon to give it more edge.

Thats pretty much it for the most part. Gets me a wide range of tones :)
my maxon OD 808 really DOES make poop sound good

i have a marshall jmp50 master volume for 1976.

originally it had a very early 2204 circuit, which i didn't care for so much. i've since modified it for the classic 2204 circuit, and removed the gain pot bright cap. the motley selection of valves has been replaced by NOS mullard 12ax7 preamps, and reissue mullard el34 power amp. further more i've replaced the jmp spec power transformer for a heybeor (i know the spelling is wrong) which has a higher voltage to get a bit more headroom.

i also have a rack rig which i use sometimes - marshall 20/20 1u power amp (which i quite like actually and think is quite good), and a marshall 9001 preamp which is cheap fun and cool to modify, but the 2204 slays it. i'd like to replace this preamp with something for teh br00talz, just to contrast with the marshall. maybe some sort of 1u engl, or a rocktron piranha if i can find one at the right price.

live i use sansamp gear. it used to be a GT2, which went a bit funny after years of heavy use. i was so happy with that GT2 though that i got a sansamp character british to replace it.

I use a Mesa/Boogie Lonestar Classic, revalved with Sovtek 6L6's which are far more musical that the Boogie valves. Clean channel set on 50W on Tweed setting, with all drive sounds coming from a Blackstar HT-Dual..... and thats it!

Guitar.... Vanquish Legend Custom and backup Vaquish Legend Classic
