Well as an obsessive collector of guitar etc (isn't everyone) I've constantly changed pickups and bought new amps and guitars. I've gone through Rickenbackers, Burns, mosrite,Strats, Les Pauls etc and never found something that i really was happy with...untill i decided to spend some money on these pickups. I had a 72 reissue that i used to use at the end of gigs to throw about (on the last track i play a solo and ripp of all the strings during it etc), so after one gig, i managed to destroy the input jack and some wiring came loose...so i though might as well give the pickups a try.
I bought Riff Raff for the neck and brown sugar for the bridge and i've finally got tone I was looking for, I tested it on a cheap (awful sounding) no name practice amp to start with...and it sounds pretty good, good enough to gig and maybe record within a mix. Then plugged it into the Jcm800 and it sang, I was playing like i never have before. I normally stick to rhythem but the pickups give you the confidence to hammer out a solo. I also put in a coil tap just do add a different tone, and it was almost strat like.
I'll be putting up some recordings and pictures soon. The only question left now is.....which pickups should i get for my other guitars?
