removing signature from nitro guitar

try t-cut, its a bit more abrasive so should actually rub it off.  if that doesnt move it then chances are its under a coat of lacquer

so is this a NGD we need to know about!!

tried some heavy duty t-cut... its not moving. under the light, the signature appears to be under a coat of laquer

it would be a strip back, hopefully not going through base coat and re lacquer with clear.

My paint guy specialises in new or complete refinishes... not as much experience with touch-ups and i am guessing you want to save as much of the original finish as possible.

no joy with the lighter fluid... what about something stronger like turps?

tried the turps - didn't remove signature, didn't damage the nitro

iso-alcohol also not working

toothpaste - no effect

tried some heavy duty t-cut... its not moving. under the light, the signature appears to be under a coat of laquer

Doesn't sound like he tried the Preparation-H, does it?

Get a marker pen and trace over the signature and then try cleaning it off with a cloth and some cleaning fluid. Works on white boards, not sure if it will work on a guitar though!

What a stoopid thing to say. I now realise the signature is under a coat of laquer  :oops: Must go to bed now!

Try and get a marker that looks very similar, and try and incorporate the signature into a tribal design on the V... should be able to get it to blend it pretty good ;)

I had the same problem with a 60's strat, it had Hendrix's signature on it, had to spray over it in the end :D

He's a major player, many people list him as their guitar hero, he's quite old and has a poor health record. I'd keep it on.
