1984 Flying V, rear routed '83 body revision, original dirty fingers pickups, lightweight mahogany, ebony board, really easy low action, wide feeling neck, original gibson hardcase, johnny f_cking winter signature under coat of f_cking laquer

i no longer know how many flying Vs I have... but 3 of them are from the 80s

this is a great V, but i'm really p1ssed off about that signature

But Johnny Winter is seriously cool compared those blokes gwem!! :o

Still wouldn't want his bluddy sig on my guitar though!!

I was discussing this with the missus - I wouldn't want anyone's signature on a guitar, not even Rory Gallagher's

seriously gwem... if its just a sig removal it needs a lot less work than the other v you were looking at, even if it takes awhile to find the best way to remove the signiture

i'd appricate your advice wez... i'm in the US at the moment, i'll be in touch when i get back in any case.

this is a fine guitar - much nicer than a current gibson, even considering what people say about their 80s output.

100% agree with you andy - ideally i don't want anyones sig on there - its my guitar. i like metal, not blues rock... even if johnny winter is top of the blues rock pile.

Nice guitar with some cool pickups too!

Tipex the sig out, no one'll notice.

If you're really determined to get the signature off, you could wet sand the top - carefully - until you "hit" the signature, then T-Cut it.

That might sound a bit crazy, but after all you'd only be going down as far as the original finish, there shouldn't be much danger of sanding through to the wood.

that would be my next suggestion too. depends on the finish though, and more importantly the thickness of the finish.   When people spray over signitures they usually only give it a light coat so that is in your favour
