Guitar Village sale
« on: March 27, 2009, 09:30:58 PM »
Looks like some fairly good offers may be to had this year:

http://www.guitarvillage.co.uk/

Maybe this is why they so readily gave me a discount from the CS tele I'll be picking up over the weekend! 50% of some of the Dean models and the Schael tele (that's been in stock for an age) sound like absolute bargains to me.

I do like GV alot but despair about this guitar being on the site:

'Stump-O-Matic' must be the worst signature model name ever. FACT.

Let us know all about the Esquire when you get it Ian  :)

I made the mistake of going into Sounds Great on the way home tonight.  They've still got the black one I love

Ouch - could be an expensive mistake! I must admit that I'm surprised about how calm I have been, maybe too busy at work to think about it. I put the deposit down nearly a week ago!

That's quite a lot more than what I'm paying. I'm assuming it's the same spec and only the colour is different?

I used to get a flyer for the Guitar Village sale. I haven't been there for some months. It is like an aladdins cave *

* one hopes that the use of such terminology is not offensive to anyone. You never know these days so I thought I'd get the apology out the way before I lose the TV series I don't make.

Have you been there since it has been expanded? The shop is now more than twice the size - I reckon about 3 times bigger. Much nicer to walk around as the guitars are no longer stood three deep against the walls!

I've noticed they're usually much more expensive than everyone else. They don't seem interested in negotiating either, which is odd seeing how much money they have tied up in the expensive stock they have on the walls. I don't know if it operates on a similar model as some of the other retailers. For instance I don't know if they get the gear on consignment for  a period of time before they have to pay the distributors for their guitars. I would imagine they do as otherwise there's a $%&#load of cash hanging on the walls. I can understand them trying to make as much as they can, but the inflexibility is what stops me buying stuff there any more. At the end of the day, I am looking for the best deal for me, not the shop. Ho hum...

I think there should be a code of conduct for all guitar shops. On the list would that haggling is allowed!
