Zvex

Just had a quick look at the Zvex website and noticed they have two new pedals coming out, the 'Distortron' and the 'Mastotron'. First new products in a while I think. Anyone heard of them? Maybe not as I don't think they are on the market just yet.

The Distortron is the distortion side of the Box of Rock but with a bit more EQ control.  Should be a superb pedal. The BoR is absolutely KILLER IMHO !
Haven't seen the Distortron or Mastotron in the UK yet though.

A BoR distortion side with a bass control????  :o

Sounds like a GREAT pedal to me.  My issue with the BoR is the flabby bass, so this should cure it!

This could be bad news for me - I'm going through a phase of wanting lots of distortion pedals at the moment! Sounds like it could be a good one to keep an eye out for - I've not seen pricing yet but as it appears to be some kind of silk screen for the logos I'm hoping it's cheaper than the hand painted models.

That pedal sounds nice and transparent - a good sign!

That's exactly what I was thinking. I've never really been into transparency before but this pedal does sound like it is very transparent indeed.

Exactly !!

The flubby overbearing bass was a common complaint about the BoR. So Zvex sorted it out for this one.

The U-tube clip sounds good.

The so called flabby bass of the Box Of Rock is what it's supposed to do. I could never nail that Malcolm tone because none of my pedals or ovedrive channel had that bass tone.

If I need a powerfull overdrive with a tight bass, I switch to the H&K Tube Factor wich has more of an SLP thing going.

Don't like it - sounds very very very "pedally" if you know what I mean.

£69 sounds pretty cheap to me!

i dont think thats bad.  if you have an amp that responds well to pedals then that new pedal is an extra channel and a whole new sound

bugger it - just ordered one!!

damn you ian!! ;)

always had a thing for zvex, i am looking forward to it but i must admit that a control thats says "crackle okay" around it does make me wonder

suddenly memories of my ear drums beginning to self oscilate in manchester ( and for the next few days) are coming into my head

sounds good in that video,
i have a box of metal which im very happy with. not massively versatile as its designed for heavily overdriven metal, but it does that very well indeed.
