hey MDV you know you want to make me a cab impulse when you got these things installed!!!!

in return I'll bake you a cake or something... then squash it with a hammer so it'll fit in your letter box

Well, they're in.

Verdict - much, much tighter, punchier, more growl in the low mids, accentuates pick attack nicely without sticking a knife in your ears, smoother high end, much less fizz, fuller tone, and much thicker but nothing is lost in clarity (if anything theres more due to the tightness and chainsaw-yness now being gone from the top end.

I didnt get the sound in my head out of them, I still need to find some valhallatone unobtanium 600s going for a decent price second hand, or catch a demon, but its a couple of steps closer and certainly a big improvment in the direction I wanted.

Thanks for your help guys, especially antag and roo. Your advice was spot on - these things are doing what you said they would.

Edit - I'm eager to hear what these sound like burned in.

Should enhance the lows and mids rather a bit.

Good to hear they're doing what you expected. Get those bad boys broken in and they'll really open up for you :)

24 hours of solid play should burn them in nicely!!

Make sure you have ice available for your fingers

Actually 2 guitarists (alternating) in a 24 hour playing marathon could be a serious suggestion for a charity fund raiser and if they were from say a couple of bands may be publicity as well ?

What ever would make you think that I wouldnt?

Well, I nearly didnt, but I dabbled with some cleans for a couple of minutes. Rounder, fatter, chimier, fuller. I like. Is good.

Nothing in between yet though.

Thinking about trying a pair in my 2x12 but not sure if I'll like em. Are they quite a "modern" sounding speaker or can you get decent "vintage" tones with em as well?

Dunno, I never try to get vintage tones, and were I to attempt it I suspect my powerball would resist my efforts.
