yo,
so these are the corner joints in the tolex. these would be covered by other corners, but not the chrome parts i asked for. still, a lot of cabs and heads dont use corners bits at all, and just line up the tolex really neat, these joins don't seem that neat to me.
the tolex is really good quality.
the join at the bottom where the ends of the tolex meet has been joined as an overlap. ive seen this done a few ways before, cutting an arc and sliding both edges together for example. the overlap is better than the original nasty staples right across the bottom. the black paint on the baffle behind the grill cloth has some scuffs showing through, which i assume are from handling. there are also some blobs on glue on it if you look close. bits of dirt.
I imagine it will clean up easily enough, it has been sat in a dusty workshop.
dunno why they took out that centre plank. i screwed the baffle in harder when i knew that was gone. i know some 4x12's dont have it at all. this cab sounds less beamy than my other standard marshall cab, but that could be in part to the speaker difference. its not like the baffle is now a floating baffle. it probably does have more flex though, so when i get it loud enough for the speakers to make the baffle bow i'll see how it sounds i guess.
