I believe that is Michael Wilton from Queensryche

Haha
"Keeping this under my hat" is an Americanism the means keeping a secret. I've been friends with some of the Krank guys before there even was a Krank Amplification. So sometimes I hear some of the things that are going on, usually prefaced by "Don't say anything but we're........"
Obviously Michael had obligations to other companies when he found Krank amps, so everything had to be kept private until the previous endorsement could be worked out in a professional and appropriate manner.
I've always liked Queensryche and I thought it was pretty cool that Michael really likes the amps, to the point of either switching his endorsements, or he is endorsing more than one brand, I'm not sure.
Personally, I can't wait to try the new 1980. Last time I was at Krank they didn't have any available to try in their studio, but I'm sure full production will be starting soon if it hasn't already.
I play a Revolution Series One that has had a couple mods done at Krank.

Just for clairty, 'keeping it under my hat' isn't an Americanism at all! In fact, it's an old saying that quite possible predates the Western occupation of Native Indian land in north America.
We just weren't clear on what your relationship was with the guitarist and/or Krank, hence the confusion! :)

Looks like a lovely rig, though. :)

krank started endorsing a bunch of bands i know of in the uk, then all those bands sold off all their amps for some reason. i could of picked up a krankenstein for a few hundred pounds a while ago. listened to them live and dont think they deserve the hype they have. its mainly the krankenstein ive heard. i thought it had a fair bit of noise to it and it didnt really have anything i found interesting about it. ive heard from friends of mine that have played them, they reckon those heads are cool on their own, but as soon as you stick them with a band, they dont cut through at all. maybe thats why people got rid of theirs after a few months.

Yeah I'm mates with/know a few of the extreme metal bands that ended up with Krank endorsements. All of them slate them now but I've never heard one live since they'd all got rid of them pretty quick.

They get awesome reviews in mags but seem to get slaughtered on forums and in person most of the time.

well, its not sh't talk, im just saying a bunch of people used to have krank amps and bunch of bands got endorsed here and now they aint and they sold their amps, and i heard i krankenstein and wasnt impressed.

thats from me, it aint second hand.

the second hand bit was just the opinion that kranks dont cut through a mix so well.

not saying they all suck cos ive never had a go on one just heard a bunch of other people play the same one.

Ummm…Ok, kiddies…. Reality check for you Fantasy Island inhabitants…

krank started endorsing a bunch of bands i know

“The basic requirements for endorsement deals are that the band/artist is either signed to a legitimate label with major distribution or is a regional unsigned artist that plays a minimum of 150 shows per year and is very active promoting themselves in their region”

Krank doesn’t go about handing out amps like candy. Endorsement deals consist of “artist pricing”. Everyone buys their amps, I know of no one who has gotten free amps. They are a small company and are completely buried in orders.

a bunch of bands i know of in the uk

Define “bunch”. Do you mean, like, two?
Names?

Quote
all those bands sold off all their amps

“ALL” ??  ALL??   Really? So, like three ‘stein heads?

Quote
listened to them live …….. the krankenstein ive heard

So you heard a Krankenstein once. What were the settings like? I have to tell you, it’s not my personal favorite, but it can be set to sound very close to a Rev.
So what do you think of the Rev+? Chadwick? SST? RevJR50?
Surely out of those hundreds of free heads that Krank has been tossing about to all your friends, they were not all Krankensteins were they? Hmm?

i thought it had a fair bit of noise to it

Now this is really interesting to me because my own experience, as well as a few other artists that I’ve talked to. We find it no longer necessary to run a noise gate because of the extreme quietness of our Krank heads. I’m really curious to what was in the loop, his setup, etc. because this is the first time I’ve heard a comment about noise. My Rev is the most noiseless head I’ve ever used.

Quote
but as soon as you stick them with a band, they dont cut through at all

Again, this is very bizarre to me because this statement is completely opposite from what I’ve been hearing from sound engineers, recording engineers, and just about anybody else I trust for feedback on how the performance was, regarding my own rig. The last couple of years with my Rev have been awesome, definitely many people who have heard my “before” and “after” have had nothing but positive comments on how clear everything is and how they can hear notes and chords and riffs that were lost in the mix. Weird.

They get awesome reviews in mags but seem to get slaughtered on forums….

Wow. Strange that over half of the guys on the Krank forum are from the UK and Europe, and they just rave over their Krank amps and support. Lots of guys on Rig-Talk , TGP have had really positive experiences as well. Surely you don’t mean the tweeners on Harmony Central??  HAhahahaha LOLOLLOL!!!1!!
Look at me! I’m going to buy an amp based on what somebody said on HC!!

…and in person most of the time.

Well. The real issue is, your slander is absolutely false and has nothing to do with Krank amps.
It is me. You so despise me that you are determined to come into any thread I post and give me cr@p. It’s a shame really, because the Krank crew is a great bunch of guys, the best customer service ever.
