Completely forgot, but right on the money: Germino Amps!

http://www.germinoamps.com/amplifiers.htm (they have a dealer in NY as well)

Edit: there you can also test these brands:
65 Amplifier
Matchless
/13
Two Rock
Valve Train

What about Koch (cue Johnny MAc and Afghan Dave)

There was a clip of a simple class A amp - think it was the studiotone we all watched on Youtube
May be too low powered for you

Or look at the Cornell Plexi 45/50
Sounds great!

Of course I would say look to the Egnater Mod 50
Then you can have whatever preamp you like
The Twin/Deluxe is great as is the Bassman, although you may like the Vox Module or the COD (California Over Drive) which has a bit of a Boogie vibe, but isn't that gainy. I dont hear the Dumble references people make on that module
On the other hand the Sl is pure Plexi - great stuff
www.felineguitars.com - repairs & custom built
Great fretwork!

I too second the Egnater mod 50, or the 100 if there's any left. But i remember you saying the Egnaters sounded dark?

The switchable preamps are amazing! There's a few people/companies that do custom mods different to what Egnater and Randall offer too. The possibilities are amazing!
SG-X/Over wound Rebel Yell
Blue SG 61 Reissue/Cold Sweat
Egnater Mod 50
Matamp 4x12
