Show Some Love For Hair Metal
« on: July 10, 2009, 02:33:09 AM »
I know there are a few older sorts like myself on this board who remember a time when the mention of - Sunset Strip, Gazzari's, and the Rainbow Bar & Grill - were almost magical places to read about for a British teenager with a shaggy perm.... Ahh memories...  PDT_013

But the love that dare not speak its name for the last decade + is OK again and I think it's time to Skool some of the younger folk on this board in the ways of Pointy Guitars - Great Choruses - Big Hair & Hot Women

The is much more to life than "teh Brootalz" and now that Spotify exists you deserve to know about it and listen for free. PDT_008

So listen to some of these bands (guitarists), have a shower and shampoo your hair, grab your guitar and find a HOT girl....

Life will be good...

Cinderella (Tom Keifer)
Hardline (Schon)
Danger Danger (Andy Timmons)
Ratt (Demartini)
Faster Pussycat (errr... nevermind)
Great White (Mark Kendall)
Warrant  (err.. yeah... well)

Pitch in with your old favourites and lets enjoy some "Summer Nights".... PDT_015

Had a big 80s metal fest on youtube last night, just drinkin some beers with my mates watching some awesome tunes. not all hair metal so to speak, but still choice, now got a lot of choruses stuck in my head

standout tunes from the night that i recall:
skid row
ratt
helix (gimme an R)
W.A.S.P
queensryche
a lot of judas priest
venom
Grim reaper
crimson glory (midnight RIP)
dokken
twisted sister
then slowly degenerating into a drunken haze of yelling,
my girlfriend turned up with a friend and tried playing rubbish like beyonce, thats when we had to up the stakes and went through a series of songs all about rock and rocking and us yelling along to choruses.

all up, was a pretty decent thursday night

My mate's band supported Love/Hate when they did a NYE gig at the Marquee in London sometime in the early 90s. Nice bunch of guys, guitarist was bit touchy about people looking at his rack though. He even put tape around it to stop people going near, made me laugh. I can't remember their set as I think I was out of it by then...
