Cheers guys. I know what you mean Johnny, there's no work in my line either. Seriously considering looking for something straightforward and temporary and doing a qualification in something like project management in the evening, but I dunno if that's even feasible.

I think there are qualifications to have in project management, but I've not come across any for a while.  Don't think any of the PM's that I've worked with have any formal Project Management quailifications.  It appears to be something that you get into and can't quite work out how.

It's alright when the works there, but if there's no projects then you're in the same boat as everyone else.  I'm lucky as my projects typically last a few years so I may be able to ride it out.  Saying that though, in a year or two when the current batch are done with it's going to be a very different situation.

What we're you doing before, anything that can be transfered into project management?

Probably not - I'm a soon-to-be-ex journalist, trained on magazines but ended up on the local fishwrapper. I have communication skills coming out of my ears, and I'm pretty savvy with print design and Photoshop, ok with content mangement systems and pretty bright and adaptable, but I don't have an engineering background or anything like that.
