Yeah different power amp designs have a BIG impact.

I think the first Uebers were running hotter in the power stage, which makes them a bit more chewy and organic to the blue revs. Not sure how the Duo Jet compares in that perspective.

"Downer" for the classic is that it's lacking some of the switches of the 101B, whereas the 20th offers that classic vibe with improved signal quality (highest specs caps and stuff) but also all the switches like gain structure etc.

cool.

The XTC kind of defeats my love of simplistic single channel amps. then so does the uber. but i think most of the uber complexitiy probably lies in the aesthetics like the fibre optics.

I went for the blue rev as i heard it wasn't quite as dark as the rev 2, and i preffered the idea of EL34's rather than the KT88s in the Dual Jet, although installing EL34's in that isn't such a problem i would imagine. I liked the idea of the master bass and treble controls when i feared the bass response of the Uber initially.

its not as intuative, compact or seemingly rugged as my Avenger. I just trust certain amps more with going away for shows. Thats why my dual rec never got a real run out.

been thinking about all this. there is a 2nd hand classic for sale near me, and a 101B.
its a lot of cash, but i think overall, now i've gone out and played my Uber kranked up, it does exactly what i want, and im happy with the sound now im used to dialling it in.
still LOVE my avenger for all kinds of reasons.
any idea what the Uber cameron mods are?
