as they would say on Dragons Den - he's created a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

Why not increase the neck on both sides so that guitarists are free to explore the limitless new possibilities of bending the low strings out from the centre instead of pulling them down, while we're at it? Or why not only put the two inner strings on a guitar and use all that amazing free bending space, while the other string rings out below/above the bent note? Or - stop me if this sounds crazy - play a pedal steel, instead of making a bulky and expensive guitar neck that lets you play a couple of extra "pedal-steel-type" licks?  :?

On the other hand, you could modify one of those things with an extra monorail bridge saddle and a spare tuner and have an extra high string that's only on the "lead" end of the fretboard. See? I'm innovating too! :D

that is a crazy idea - pedal steels are quite pricey ;)

but then look how many better solutions there are for pedal style licks on a guitar

Not to mention prebending behind the nut :)

and all of them still function as a normal guitar should

I don't buy the argument that it's easier/more natural to pull the strings down rather than push them up.  I've always felt more comfortable and more in-control bending the high strings upwards.  I guess it's a case of what you're used to, though.

I don't I want to know how much this guy has invested on this idea, if I really wanted the "advantages" of his guitar I'd get a 7 string, take off the high E and change the 6 remaining strings to E standard

I don't think much of the idea, because it doesn't make much sense to be, bending one way rather than t'other.

However, I DO like the idea of weird, single purpose guitars, as they can often lead so some cool sounds.  For example, that guitar has a very short scale by the look of it, and I reckon that you could do some SERIOUS string bending on the upper register!  Almost like a sitar.

That could be very cool in the right context.

Same here, I find it much easier to bend upwards. Bending down feels weird.

What a rubbish idea. Nothing wrong with proper guitars!

-1 I've had the thought many times of an extended neck for bending downwards. I've even though of just taking the top E off.
