Halloween anthems
« on: October 12, 2009, 01:20:41 AM »
Doing a special Halloween show in a few weeks, and was thinking about a few covers. Songs which spring to mind are:

Black Sabbath - Black Sabbath
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akt3awj_Ah8

Dr. Stein - Helloween
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l7EG4SY324s

any other suggestions? :)

(of course the other dilemma is if I play a V or a Strat.. but thats another story :) )

The Misfits - Helloween or Helloween II, the first is better though
Monster Mash?

Dude,

How could you have a halloween party and NOT do the Monster Mash?

Of course, Thriller also comes to mind-

Wade through toxic clouds
Breach the outer sphere

I always find Warpigs particularly terrifying...  You can never have enough Sabbath, IMO...

Werewolves of London by Warren Zevon.

Those who do and those who do not.

warpigs /is/ terrifying, and i'm sure you're aware of the older version (Walpurgis) with spooky black magic lyrics:

Bad Moon Rising and You Put A Spell On Me, Creedence Clear Water Revival :D (probably shobet's suggestion prompted this train of thought...)

Is your singing up to doing a bit of Frank? Witchcraft, That Old Black Magic, etc... maybe not, eh?

Know any fiddle players? The Devil Went Down to Georgia.

Rory Gallagher, The Devil Made Me Do It - actually, that could be a serious suggestion, it could fit in more "metal" environment, it's a simple pedal-to-the-metal boogie, with a very catchy chorus for an audience that's never heard it before (it's on the Jinx album).

In a Gadda Da Vida always sounds Halloweeny to me for some reason.
I see a rainbow rising
Look there on the horizon
And I'm coming home
