My question is pretty the same.
I'm thinking about NB or WP in a LP-style guitar. Neck and body will be made out of mahogany, ebony fretboard 25", string-thru. About the "top-wood" i'm not sure yet.
For amplification i'm using an ENGL Blackmore which hasn't got the amount of bass which i would have liked.
The sound i'm looking for is powerfull and thight bass and mids with not too much treble.
Heavy distortion is pretty important for me, but i'm not turning the gain-poti (II) over 14:00 o'clock.
As i've already read in the BKP-forum the WP could be too much in a mahogany guitar. But i think i'm really looking for this "overkilled" sound. I've listend to a lot of clips, the best to compare i found the "metal"-clips recorded by "dheim"
