nut cuttage (stop laughing!)

OK so I'm fairly sure that the nut on my bitsa needs to be opened slightly as even the slightist movement on the trem result on it going out of tune, but I have never touched a nut ( I said stop laughing) because of the problems that come come with it, but I think that a slight opening of it would work.
Now comes the question!
I don't want to spend a fortune on the files, what can you guys (and gal) recommend please?

Have you tried some lubrication? Vaseline or...graphite from a pencil.

yep already in there...mixed some graphite into vaseline & put into the slots

Needle files aren't that expensive.

If the slot is big enough for a wound string, you can use that as a file too.

I've even done it with a nail file as long as it wasn't the high B or E.

If it's those high strings you might be able to do it with thin sandpaper.

I need to do it on the b & E ironically. Anyone any ideas please?

We talking strat-bitsa, do we have a string tree as well?

If that's not lubricated yet, do that first (vaseline on a toothpick) - it might be the problem.

Otherwise what Ratrod said - thin sand-paper...

Piece of 320 or 600 grit wet and dry - folded in half and gently worked into the slot
Keep the paper angled so it is lower at the back of the slot than at the front

Add lube afterwards
