Sorry to hear about the accident mate, it sounds nasty.
As you know I can totally empathise with how you're feeling.
At first you get shock, then panic about how they have treated the wound, them you resign yourself to it but then it kinda washes all back over you again.
Well, my advice.....
If you want to minimise the scar KEEP THAT CUT DRY and DON'T touch it for as goddam long as you can!
If they stitched or glued it then it will be clean and that should be the last time you go near it for 12+ days.
When that time is up twice daily (morning and night) use Bio-oil
http://www.bio-oil.com/en/scars/index.html which you can get from the chemist and is a generally great moisturiser as well as scar treatment.
It has really helped break down all my scar tissue and reduce the red mark massively...
It's has worked so well that I now have people thinking I made a big deal out of a small cut! (trust me, it was DEEP & NASTY)
The dentists will put you in the poor house but they can work miracles so that will be sorted and the bill forgotten in time.
Keep calm and avoid the mirror for a while and I assure you it will work out well.
If you are in North London and you fancy meeting for a beer or a coffee & a chat - shoot me a p.m. dude.
