Im kidding, I have long hair and always tie it back and i now have a receding hair line as a result :(
I don't think tying your hair back makes it recede - you might be
breaking hairs by pulling them back, but it doesn't stop them growing at the root. If you really are losing it it's probably just male pattern baldness, simple as that.
Everybody loses hairs every day (to be replaced by new ones) but if your hair's long those shed hairs are much more noticeable when you use a brush or comb! I had long hair and got it cut because I was convinced I was starting to lose it, but that was nearly 15 years ago and it hasn't changed much, if at all, since. It's always been very fine and thin, and maybe it's a
bit thinner now, but my hairline hasn't changed and I haven't got any bald patches. Touch wood.
