I'm not bothered about 100% historical accuracy. What do the people you know say about the bodies and the necks?

Me neither. As long as it looks great, plays great, sounds great and is a good price it's okay by me.

I have a friend who deals in them (Montreux Guitars) and so do CrazyParts. Full disclosure: I am a Montreux dealer. Yuichiro seems to think that Monster Relic are decent, mostly-correct Fender copies.

Really, beyond a certain point, when building a guitar from parts it comes down to the luck of the draw and some experimenting. I'd consider using Monster Relic if they'd work on some of the details, although I'd probably prefer to paint my own bodies and I would have to paint my own necks for any Fender after mid-1967 or so.

Not from these guys, but I did purchase an SG relic form Blackpoole Relics and it is very nice indeed. Not sure what pups are in it but they are surprsingly very nice as well.  Thought for sure I'd have to repalce them straight away.  The relic work is excellent as well.  They don't have a website, but you can find them on Ebay.

Cheers   8)
The blackpoole guys give me really bad Tele GAS  :(

Yes me too ....... but this cured it  :-

Looks like some wiley sort of guy put a Fender logo on it...

P.S. Their website is now up and running - http://www.blackpoole.com/

Cool concept, pleasantly surprised to see a UK business doing it to be honest. I know 'relic' guitars aren't everyones thing but its great to have the choice isn't it.

When I first saw the title I was expecting to see mixing desks and studio monitors that'd been knocked around a bit, ie an actual studio made to look like it had seen better days...

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but these guys are re-selling Asian relics, not producing in the UK.

If you want a UK-made guitar body/neck, meow at me by PM. I warn you, good ones are not cheap.

I believe http://www.bravewoodguitars.co.uk are a UK producer. He says he makes his own bodies anyway.

John makes everything himself, bodies, necks and he ages metal and plastic parts (though he makes some of his own plastic parts too).  I have been to his workshop several times and have 3 instruments from him.  He even turns some small metal parts on a lathe that he has.   He is a bit of a fanatic, but the guitars really do have the mojo in them.

It's getting hold of them though.

He doesn't take custom orders any more and almost every time I check his for sale section it's either empty or there's a message saying that the guitar featured has been sold already. The times I have been lucky enough to check and there has been something there for sale, he's either not replied to my email enquiry or it's been a bloody bass.

The Bravewood guitars look amazing, and I do not say that lightly.

Normally I am not a fan of "over-the-top" relicing, but this guy makes it look real.

I thought he was taking orders again.  He has a Tele Custom coming up soon I think.

Relic Guitar Studio http://relicguitarstudio.com/ is Kavanagh Customs reborn. A complete scam. Chinese imports passed off as quality parts.

Just checked this guys reviews:

http://reviews.harmony-central.com/reviews/Guitar/product/Kavanagh+Customs/Strat+Body/10/1

Supposedly this guy's name is John Kavanagh - I have my doubts.

He/they - whoever they are were kicked off ebay last year.

I just did a "whois" look-up for the www.relicguitarstudio.com domain and it's been registered by one of the "Contact Privacy" type sites so you can't see who actually runs it - not what I would look for in a company I would consider doing business with.  Caveat Emptor.
