Colorcode wiring Problem - Ibanez RG1527
« on: January 28, 2010, 05:28:12 PM »
Hi Guys!

I recently ordered a Miracle Man7-bridge Cold Sweat7-neck combo with 4 conductors each for my Ibanez RG1527.
I put them into the body and soldered them...but I don't think that i did it the right way.
I'm really confused with the color differences and the english electronical terminology (e.g., start slug coil, end screw coil etc.) as i am from Germany (ok bad excuse but i really couldn't find a decent translation :))

Here is the original wiring plan for the RG1527:

http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/8210/rg15272004.gif

Problem is now that i don't get any signal when the swich is on the position were it is said "parallel connected" in the ibanez wiring scheme. The others work fine.

So here is what i done:

clearly: N = Wire from NeckPU, B = Wire from BridgePU  :D

After that i just changed the red and the white wire from the neck PU and now all 5 positions work fine but everything also sound different ;) I seemingly don't know the "right way".

I hope it is not too confusing.... can you tell me what i did wrong?

Thanks in advance!

I had the same problem when I installed my Holy Diver set into my RG1527, Something with the Ibanez super switch doesnt seem to work right with 4 conductor pickups. In the end I just took it out and put in a three way switch with push pull switches to have the neck in parallel and the bridge split.

Good luck In finding a solution but I'm pretty sure you will have to replace the switch.

that's a pitty....no other rg1527 users here who managed to get it right?

If the 5 way switiching like from the ibanez scheme is not working at the moment thats not bad for now.
I don't know how good my picture ist but is at least the wiring for the "standard" options right? To say the wiring for standard neck humbucking and standard bridge humbucking or is it completely inverted?  :(

Thanks

There are different versions of this switch but to the best of my knowledge going from tag 1(far right in your pic) to tag 8(far left in your pic):
1 - bridge red
2 - neck white and then jumper to tag7
3 - neck red
4 - output to pot tag
5 -  bridge green and white soldered together
6 - ground
8 neck green

Hey thx Tim, but i already build in a Megaswitch E  :) I really like the sound of bridge + neck pickup split.

But I got another concern which doesn't relate to the topic but atleast to my guitar ;) *annoymodeon*

It seems that the BKPs are much thicker than the stock ibanez ones. Also the screws of the screw coil are much longer. Because of that i can't get the Pickups deep enough.
Here's a picture:

As you can see the pickups are as the same height as the tremolo.

I couldn't use the screws with the springs because of that too. I had to use the old screws of the stock pickups. I feel a little bit like Frankenstein who builds his monster out of different stuff.
Is there any way to get them in the right height without digging depper holes in the wood or playing with an enormous gap between strings and fretboard?

I managed to replace the stock IBZ PU in my RG 1527 with a 7-string Painkiller, but I have the same problem with the height.
I guess there is no way around drilling deeper holes. Hopefully I'll find time to do that next week and report.

Hallo, Guten Tag, ja. (I think everyone should get that )

I already got the tools prepared, I just need to pass my exams next week (damn you English linguistics!) and I'll get started.
